Hobby News and a Tip
Hey all,
Here's my latest article: http://bit.ly/2jZU8pC
It's a bit Habs heavy but the last part concerns each and every collector as it relates to shipping practices. Just curious as to everyone's approach to those... Am I the only one who's received that kind of package?
Discuss please :)
Thoughts @RGM81 @aweeks @flemingc04 @30ranfordfan ?

When you see free ship inside Canada from eBay sellers..... Its more and more often how your trade partner shipped. To be honest - I don't care, if the card makes it to me in good shape. Probably recieved a dozen or more like that in 2016.
When I do care is if I'm paying for shipping..... $3 and I expect what you described (thats how I ship, and normally charge $2). For $2, maybe a little less.
PWE and the card wrapped in paper, not even a penny sleeve, is the worst I've ever seen.

Thank you for bringing the painters tape up as I always use it and think it should be a must for all. Scotch tape always stays on the top loader for life and makes them poor for display purposes. Only time I ship with scotch tape is I received it that way
good read as well!

JEG- Another alternative is to put the top loader upside down in a team bag and use the scotch tape on the team bag.Always Looking for:
A) Graded Vintage (Pre-1980) (BGS, BVG, PSA, SGC) in all sports
B) Graded True RC's (No inserts or parallels) (BGS, PSA, SGC) in all sports
C) Certified Auto and GU cards of players from the 70's and further back in all sports

When I'm shipping cards, no matter what the value, I always sleeve every card, then the most valuable cards go in top loaders, with the remaining cards between the top loaders. All sides are taped, and I will admit to using scotch tape, but have no issue with switching to painters tape, if that is everyone's preference. I also put a bit of paper over the open ends of the top loaders so that the cards don't become stuck on the tape, should they shift in transit. Finally, everything gate wrapped in a personal note and put into a bubble mailer, no exceptions!
I've never had complaints about how I ship, but please feel free to comment on if this is acceptable or not!
Shipping in a PWE just shouldn't be done, regardless of the card value. Might only be a 10 cent card, but honestly, you never know if the person receiving it has an emotional attachment, or has waited done to find one! Every card should be treated as if it's high end!Always looking for Senators cards! Must be a draft pick, or the card is identifiable as a Senators card before I want it!
Until further notice, I ship on Mondays. Only day off, so only chance to get to the Post Office.

When I ship any card of any value, a toploader (or a big magnet holder if necessary), penny sleeve, team bag are mandatory for me, and a bubble mailer should always be used in my opinion. I've had a few traders offline send me stuff in RE-Used white envelopes. Thankfully the cards were okay, but I just had to kindly let the person know they shouldn't send cards like that anymore.

I will send in PWE if it's low end and agreed upon in advance with the other party. Unfortunately postage costs for bubble mailers have increased tremendously the last several years because the Post Office is losing money.

I know people say painter's tape doesn't mess up and stick to the top loader but it does for me. Now maybe that's because it is too cold or something but I use a team bag and then just tape the outside. No issues that way.

You're welcome ! Yeah, you're definitely not the only one who cares about this stuff. Shipping cards is a big issue. So important.
