August 2017 Final Standings:
1. who765 - 395
2. bearpup - 381
3. JFried1029 - 367
4. bakemeister52 - 327
5. OriolesFan - 324
6. cjs-sportscards - 315
7. bbcardzman - 310
8. dragonslayer913 - 292
This was, by my estimation, the closest, most competitive month yet since I started running this contest. It's also the 3rd different winner in the last 3 months.
A big congratulations must first go out to our monthly winner, @who765. He came out of the gates strong at the beginning, and was able to hold on until the end of the month, despite very close, challenging pushes from both @bearpup and @JFried1029, who have secured themselves as consistent forces to be reckoned with every month, and both already have at least one monthly title under their belts. It was who765's turn to dominate the way in August, however, showing that he can hang with the best in this contest, as he has every month. Persistence pays off, and he was finally rewarded fairly for his efforts. A fantastic showing from @bakemeister52 saw him finish in the top 5 again this month, despite having to begrudgingly take several days off of the contest due to being on vacation out in the woods, where hopefully no squirrels were mistreated during his stay. Rob's dedication to this contest is second to none... however, I've recently had to file a restraining order against him for fear that I, myself, might start getting the squirrel treatment for taking a day off here and there. I knew that ice cream truck with the antennae sticking out the back parked across the street from me looked out-of-place the other day, and the Oregon plates were highly suspicious... Rounding out the top-5 this month, and deserving of a pat on the back for his efforts and best showing to date, was @OriolesFan. Rodney's impressive production this month was a lot more like his beloved Orioles' offensive output... and a lot less like the current state of their rotation... other August notables include solid performances from @cjs-sportscards, who also deserves a shout-out for every time he's been able to help me out with posting a schedule when I wasn't able to, sometimes doing so with very minimal notice; the regular playing return of former monthly champion @bbcardzman, who should be considered a contender for September already, as well as a strong showing from relative newcomer to the contest @dragonslayer913, who has not looked out of place amongst our regulars and deserves a "rookie of the month" nod of sorts.
Good luck in September, everyone!! NFL is right around the corner...Last edited by ravens_creed; 09-01-2017 at 04:55 PM.
