Thats my team in a nut-shell.
Every player. Besides 1. Just wanted to play O.
Yet. Only 4 of us knew how to skate backwards.
Our goalie wasn't the problem. It was everyone else.

Its funny though because our games usually go like this:

I win the faceoff. Pass it to a teammate. They turn it over. At least a 2 on 1 or a 3 on 1 on me (we play 4 on 4). I either block the shot or pass unless its a 3 on 1 where I block pass and let goalie take shot. If it goes in, start over. If i block the shot or pass, I pass it up for my team and they have an odd man rush. They then lose the puck or don't score. When this happens, go back to the odd man rush part. If they score, start from beginning.

then there is the odd occurrence where I can help them on O without having to worry about an odd man rush and I take shots and give rebounds and they do nothing. I basically spoon feed my team chances and unless there are no defenders and its an empty net, they don't score.

Lol this stuff reminds me of a co worker telling me about his rec league roller and ice hockey league that he plays in. It is awesome. I love hearing about it. His ice team was like 4-22 in the regular season but in the playoffs they upset the 1st place team by winning 2 of 3 games. I think there are 8 teams total. Now in the 2nd round I they won 1st game in a SO and lost the 2nd game in a SO. The way he describes it they have 1 or 2 really talented players and a lot of pluggers that are hard working but not overly skilled and their goalie is a beast. I think it was 3-2 SO win and 2-1 SO loss which seems low scoring for rec hockey. Wish I played in a league but I work nights and I quite playing ice hockey when I was like 11 or 12 because I was a small kid and hitting was starting at the next leave.

Funny thing is I that I actually remember my stats from my last 2 years playing ice hockey. I got 0 goals both years but around 30 assists each year. I played mainly defense but since we were kids we got the chance to play every position. I liked playing defense the most though. Blocking shots and checking other players off the puck. No hitting allowed then so my size didn't matter. Skating wasn't the best but always gave it my all skating back and forth since I'm extremely competitive. I was the assistant captain as well in the last of the 2 years. I also moved to a new boundary was asked to switch teams since I had moved just outside the boundary of the team I played for in Vancouver and into another boundary. Funny thing is I moved the area my family moved into had a way better team compared to the team I played on. I'm pretty sure their team crushed our team when we played each other. Anyway I probably would've have gotten crushed and injured if I did play on being that I was small. I'm 5"9 155lbs now so at 12 I might have been somewhere 5"0 and 100lbs. Not exactly sure.

Haha that sounds like my team. Except this is the first year my goalie has played in 6 years. He faces 40-50 shots a game on a regular basis lol. My brother is on the team with me (as he was last year) and he was the 2nd highest scoring player on the team with 14 points in 18 games. After that, like your co worker we have alot of people who try hard and play the best they can, they just don't have the skill to make the plays needed to be made (minus the 2 guys we have playing defence, who would probably put up higher numbers if they played forward). Our next game is tomorrow, we win we move on, we lose and we're done.
