    Ebay problem, opinions please.

So i just got an e-mail from a buyer who wants to return a card I sold him saying there are creases in it. Unfortunately for him, I made it very clear in the auction that the card had creases in it. Part of me wants to tell him tough luck, while part of me wants to just refund his money to avoid a headache (only a $3 card) and ban him from my auctions in the future.

What would you all do?? Thanks in advance for the help!

hmmmm, if you stated in the auction that item has creases... i dont think hes in the right by asking for a refund. He knew what he was getting, prior to bidding... Peresonally I dont think you need to give him the money back... but like you say being it is only a $3 listing, you may just save yourself the headache by giving him the refund.

why should he give refund for a lousy 3 dollar card if it was stated? buyer should learn to read perhaps i doubt he can do much if written creases on the card cheap to ask to send back.

As the other said why give a refund. I would send him the auction link where you stated it was Creased. Of course it would be nice to see how you put up the auction to word it As I seen folks type a lot of stuff then try to slip it in on a higher end card or mention a problem.

Granted it up to the buyer to read but when the seller trying to be sneaky it now all ethical in my book. Of course in the end it buyer beware with every auction. If you disclosed the crease you covered your self.

Personally, I would not give a refund as it not teaching this person to read the auctions in the future. This is why buyers can be such a pain as they expect to get their wishes when they are in the wrong.

p.s. If you have the auction link would like to see where you stated about the crease in the card.

I would say no - The buyer should read EVERYTHING before bidding...YOU are expected to list the condition of the card (as you did) - its their responsibility to read it before bidding......

With that being said, I am not sure about this part.....Can you remove a Negative feedback if you refuse the refund and the buyer leaves negative feedback?

If not, then sometimes you have to bite the bullet

If you can (in case they get mad and leave negative feedback, then politely tell them, it was in the description and you sold it as you described

You should not be giving any refund. If you clearly stated that the card you were selling had creases in it and he never read it, his problem.

Is a negative worth $3. Give them the refund, ban them and keep your feedback intact. Much better in my opinion.

do not give them a refund...when they file negative or a claim just email all you messages back and forth to whoever is investigating...its pretty clear cut...giving him a refund just reinforces that buyers can be bullys...especially since sellers can no longer give negatives to buyers

tell him to mail you the card back with tracking as per paypal's policy. when it is marked as delivered, then you will give him the refund. see if he'll pay out for a $3 card.

Well guys, seems like I went against many of you and offered to give him his money back. Here is the auction in question:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370398277454&ssPageNam e=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123

I don't state in the title it is damaged, but on the 2nd line says:
"Card does have a crease on the back, which is hard to see from pictures but it is there. DO NOT BID if looking for mint card, because this is not."

I really don't feel i was in any way being deceptive, so I hope that is not how this comes off.

For me it wasn't worth a potential negative feedback or having to go through e-bay BS in order to fix the situation. This person will be banned from my future auctions though, and I sent a fairly stern e-mail telling them to be more careful in the future.
