ummm....I'm a Republican and see nothing wrong with the book at all. Those that jump to conclusions of course would. But if anyone actually read the book its not about the bashing of America. Though it does mention subjects like the anti-Americanism to war in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as looking into the disappearing value of the dollar this book doesn't have as much to do about America as it more so does to the rise of china, followed by India as a powerhouse ranking in the world

As stated - I just figured that part out - yes - I jumped to conclusions when looking at the title and the author.

Just another reason for doing your research................

There are tons of these chain emails going around, trying to find any little thing to bash Obama for, whether relevant or not (mostly not...if the issue has to be brought up in a chain email instead of a news outlet or even a requtable blog...).

I would also like to say as a conservative that I have no problem with this and didn't buy into when I saw the email the first time a few months ago...and I had no clue what the book was about at the time either.

and really, something like this makes the rest of us Republicans look petty when the only thing to be said about the author is that he is "a fellow muslim" There is no doubt he is a very intelligent individual

I never claimed to be a republican - I'm actually a centrist with a VERY SLIGHT lean to the left.

    FROM WIKI:

In politics, centrism is the ideal or the practice of promoting moderate policies that lie between different political extremes. Most commonly, this is visualized as part of the one-dimensional political spectrum of left-right politics, with centrism landing in the middle between left-wing politics and right-wing politics. The phrase is often associated with the political philosophy realpolitik, which favours practical considerations more than ideology.

Zakaria is an extremely smart and knowlegable man. Anyone would do well to listen to his perspective on any number of topics.

I agree with this... I always enjoy his articles in newsweek, even though i rarely agree with a ton of what he is reporting on, i like to see it from his point of view.

You would be right - I got that email and didn't research the book.

I will now to verify your post.

So, why don't you add an 'edit' line at the end of your first post?
