    Ebay Feedback on PWE

So I bought a set of oversized Kings Smokey the Bear cards from 1984 off the bay. They came in a white envelope that I had to shred apart just to get at the cards. When I opened the cards, some were bent at the corners. It is a rare set, so there was no use in returning them for replacements.

Anyway, I was happy with the overall transaction because of the rarity of the cards. So I left a positive feedback, low stars on shipping, and commented "Would expect better packaging for $4 shipping charge. I like the cards though."

So he comments back, with positive feedback: "prompt pay, though overly demanding"

Fair enough, right? I could live with that.

So a few days later, this morning, at 12:10 a.m., he sends this message to my ebay mail:

I rread your snarky feedback comments a few days ago,and decided I coulnd't let this nonsense pass without commenting. As far as I'm concerned an ebay transaction follows these general steps.I list the item.clearly describe it,and include all relevant ordering information. You submit a bid and pay for the item.I promptly securely package the item and promptly send it.That's it.What more do you think you're tntitled to-should I have encased it in bricks and mortar-would that have satisfied you?I list about 900 itemsd-I mention that I combine shipping, with additional items being $1 each.So if youy'd pulled the trigger on additional items the shipping goes down.I could easily have charged a couple of bucks more for the item and a couple of bucks less for the postage-would that have made you any happier.I must admit I've never received any similar comments in over 25 years, but I guess there's always the first time.

My wife told me not to be sarcastic back, so I politely responded by telling him the way of the bubble mailer. If I get an entertaining response, I'll post it here.

I think you were a little nicer than I would have been. Did he say he was going to send in a PWE for $4.00? If not, then I would have left him a neutral feedback and dings him on the stars as well. I don't know why people can't send in a bubble mailer with proper protection. You can get them for 15 cents a piece if you buy bulk and if you're selling a lot you might as well get them bulk. I think you did fine.

Apparently he's been posting on ebay before it was even invented, 25 years, really?

I have only received PWE once from a contest. I am glad I havent received any from ebay but I am sure my time is coming. I agree with verse though I would probably have been pretty upset as well. I like that your wife wanted you to reply sarcastically. Let us know what he says.

Last week I recieved a card in between 2 pieces of cardboard, the seller even cut into the cardboard so the card would fit nicely.....Problem is the card was in a soft sleeve, no top loader. Still have to leave feedback. I opened it and the card fell out, thankfully it landed flat.

Funny you bring this up. I received a Bruno Gervais OPC Blank Back Parallel by the mail last week. Card was store between two piles of Paninin Football cards. The lot was wrapped with tape. No top loader. No peeny sleeves. One corner is slightly touch.

I left positive feedback, but stated that the card could have been better protect.

When I receive a card in a PWE, I leave positive feedback (if the card is OK) but stated “seller shipped in PWE“.
    I collect the following:
    - Vintage (Stars and RC)
    - 2010-11 ITG Decades (Auto, GU, bases)
    - Stars from the 1980s (in modern sets)
    - Montreal Canadians Legends (bases, inserts, parallels, #, RC, Auto, GU)
    - Montreal Canadiens actual players (inserts, parallels, #, RC, Auto, GU)

I think neutral feedback would have been fair. Therefore, he should be thanking you for going easy on him since the goods were damaged. Even in part I bolded above from his message to you, h said he secures the packages. I'd say he failed didn't achieve what he preaches.

Some people need to realize that these card are cardboard and as such, simply putting them into a plastic holder and then a PWE just isn't enough. If the seller deals with other sports cards, then sending with bubble envelopes should be standard practice for him. If this is one of those oddball items for him, then hopefully he learns something. But if he's a powerseller or has countless sales, he should at least know the simple ways of packaging and using the right one to ensure something arrives safely.

Wow, way back when we used DOS! The guy probably thinks that he originally aquired those cards by sniping the the winning bid with 45 minutes to go. He's lucky that he gave himself just enough time for the bid to go through.

to OP: you are justified in leaving the comments. thats why the comment box is there :)

I think your seller is a liar (and a bit crazy). Anyone who has sold something on ebay with $4 shipping knows it should be shipped in a bubbler mailer at least. He definetly has been called out on it before.

Thanks for all the feedback. He hasn't responded yet. Hopefully he'll know better next time.
