Got back from indy Monday night

Just now have the energy to post anything. It was an amazing experience. If anyone read my other thread you already you already know I won a all expenses paid trip to the Brickyard 4000 in Indy this last weekend. I had no idea it would turn out to be as amazing as it was. When I say all expenses paid I mean everything. Ill start out with Friday night flew into Indy and was retrieved for the airport in a limo and promptly taken to the Hilton in downtown Indy ( which I will say is an amazing downtown area Ive never been there before but the way the history is intermingled with the modern is absolutley amazing). After arriving and checking into the hotel it was a first class buffet intro dinner at the hotel with full open bar. There was 50 employees from my company that won 10 from each region. So after intros and a few speeches it was off to the clubs I hooked up with a few guys from our California branch and instantly hit it off. I remember up till about the 4th club that night which is not to bad since we hit up 5 of them so Ive only got about an hour of memory loss but so do the other guys. Somehow ended up back at the hotel and in my own room to boot so I was doing great there Arrived back at hotel at 4:30 am.

Anyways got the wakeup call at 5 am in the morning so it was up and showered and off to breakfast at around 6:30 and off to the track to find out we were in a private box overlooking pit row. After ariving we find out that we are scheduled for pit tours. So off to meet our tour guide. Being down that close to the cars was really an amazing experience. We had 3 different tours due to the size of our group I got to go on the first one so all the cars were in the pits but really no drivers only one I saw was Jeff Gordon ( was actually really supprised at how small of a man he is). Took a whole bunch of pictures there. so back to the booth for some hangover medicine and to watch qualifying. Up untill actually being there and hearing it in person I had no Idea how loud one of those cars is let alone the whole pack. After qualifying the group coordinator tells us theres a concert starting by the winners circle so me and my new found friends head down to find out it is Luke Bryan which Im a huge country fan so it was awesome for me. He put on about a 2 and a half hour show (in that humidity and heat I dont see how he made it through) after that it was back to the booth for Happy hour both on the track and in the booth . And then back to the hotel to get washed up. We were then loaded into the Tour busses and off to a steakhouse called Moes. We were treated to 20oz ribeye steaks and lobster tails for dinner. I have to say it was one of the best if not the best steak Ive ever had in my life. So after gorging myself ther It was free time again so off to downtown. Indy is insane at nights on a race weekend it was wall to wall people everywhere downtown. I wont go into detail but we made it back into the hotel in time to shower and hit up the breakfast restaurant.

So off to the track for more hangover juice and the race. We loaded on the buses to find out we were provided with a police escort to and from the track. After arriving in the booth we did a pool it was a 5$ buy in and you pulled a Drivers name from a hat (I pulled Jaimie McMurray won 125$ on that) And were handed out our personal drivers radio scanners we were able to listen to any driver on the tracks radios as well as the nascar officials. After that there was about 2 hours to race start so we wondered down to the Hof museum there (tickets provided in package) It was pretty amazing to see the history of that track and all the old race cars. So back to the suite on the way back we got to see most of the drivers getting escoted from the Drivers area to the track. Back in the suite it was race time. When those engines started and the whole suite started rumbling it was amazing. There were a couple good wrecks. Montoya dominated most of the race barring the bad pit stop he would have won it (he is not liked by the crowd in Indy) But McMurray pulled it out at the end he had a good car all day long and really ran a good race. Being seated directly across from pit row was cool to I got to see a real close up of how fast those pit guys really are. I think im going to be deaf for the next week from the amazing noise of the engines it is completely defining. So immidiatley following the race it was on the tour busses and back to the hotel to be taken to our final dinner at the webber grill. Very good food there and a nice atmosphere ( they have about a 30 ft tall Wbber grill out front). Then off to hit the town again. Since I had a 6am flight I called it an early night and got back in the hotel about 4am . and off to the airport in a limo again. And now its back to reality .

I have to say it was one of the greatest trips Ive ever had in my life and sorry for the long read Im just so stoked over being able to experience all I did while I was there. Ok enough talking I need to go schedual a vacation at work to recover from my vacation I think I got about 4 hours of sleep total while I was there.

Thanks for the great read. Glad you enjoyed it. Sounds like one heck of a trip, and all that free stuff def. helped out haha. Yea Jeff isn't really a big guy at all haha, but its def cool to feel the rumble of the cars as they go by.Those are the kind of trips that make you really sad to go back to the everyday stuff haha.

Great read man! Sounds like you had a sweet experience-the way you describe the rumble is so accurate-its always an amazing feeling. Reading your story makes me miss when I got to go to Dover earlier this year-such an amazing day overall-kinda like fantasyland. And im guessing since Indy is enclosed somewhat with stands on both sides its mighty loud-Dover was pretty loud for us. Sounds like you had an amazing time!!!

Great read Im glad you had fun. We did a similar deal for the Indy 500 without the hotel and plane because we live 2 hours from the track, and it was a 3 weekend occasion with the practice and qualifying being extended over a month.

I felt like I was actually there lol.
Glad you had a great time!
Mustve been awesome to get all of that for pretty much free (besides the $5 drivers name pull, but hell, you WON $125 off of it, so you basically made money LOL)
