How do you like to view someone's photobucket?

Just a simple question to help me better organize my bucket according to people's preference.

I am finding it hard to organize my bucket with over 300 items in there so do you prefer everything just be on the main pages as my bucket currently is or do you prefer their be categories on the left organized by game used, autographs, insert, parallels, rookie cards, etc.....

Please choose an option for the survey and post if you would like to elaborate or offer other ways of organizing a bucket.

    Thanks, Nathan

I like sub-categories in people Photobuckets, specifically the way you suggest (game used, autos, rookies, etc.). I would also recommend a Mid-High-end category or else almost everyone will go after the high-end cards for a low tier YG.

Something I come across sometimes is where people over do the categories by making one for every type of card possible: auto, auto jersey, auto patch, jersey/stick, rookie patch auto. Instead, why not just have the same card appear in the different categories it fits in? Example: an auto jersey could go in both the auto folder and jersey folder. Nothing wrong with showing it twice.

Great suggestion flemingc04! I usually leave the higher end cards on the main page(s) anyways since that attracts people to view more.

I voted "Other (Please Explain)." I always like an organized bucket. Just makes for easier viewing and perusal especially when traders say "Please CMB." Having said that, when I first started on this site, I had my bucket organized by year, player, and product set. While, from the outset this may look organized to me, it was still very hard for traders to navigate through. I then revamped it to keep it more simple. So, I shortened it to 4 folders: High-end, Low-End, PC, & Rookies. I can even remove the Rookies folder and sort the cards in either the High-end or Low-end folder which I may do in the future. Now, to help traders/viewers even more, I did two more things: 1) Within the bucket, I organized the cards by player just by re-arranging the view. This way, I don't have to split the cards in separate folders. And 2) I've included back scans of the cards. This helps the trader to see the condition of the back and also help in determining what year, number, and product set the card came from. So far, I haven't had any complaints.

I have all my stuff sorted by type of card (autograph, gu, rookie, rookie gu/auto, parallel's, inserts) and rookies, parallel's and inserts sorted by year. Every piece is also tagged by the team shown on the card (May not be current team). I'm currently re-doing my bucket (I've already finished the rookie section) so that I can organize by file name and they will be put into numerical order according to set within those bucket sections. I'm very OCD about things and I can't stand looking at people buckets that aren't organized.

For the poll I voted other b/c I like to be able to look at tags the most. Most things I trade for are all CBJ stuff so it's easier to look through team tags.

My answer really depends, based on the quantity of items in the bucket. Someone whose posted a dozen gang scans, of 9 cards each - you probably don't need to use anything other than the main folder. Some traders on here have 100s or 1000s of cards in their buckets, so it becomes a lot more important.

Nathan, in your case - I would suspect that with (roughly) 300 items, sorting by type - RC, GU, Auto, Insert, and High End..... would likely be enough. Not exactly sure what's in there, but maybe Patch & Jersey should be broken up, maybe Auto'd GU cards need their own folder too.

But it depends on the volume per category too. IMO there is very little reason to have over 100 images in any single folder. If 250 of your 300 cards are RCs.... maybe break them down by year? I know it drives me nuts having to go through 18 pages of 05/06 - 07/08 Young Guns to find the 6 09/10 Young Guns in the same folder.

Breaking it down by team, I find, doesn't suit my preferences very well.... but that's just me. Usually team folders sort the cards by the jersey the player is wearing on the card. Sometimes the team they play for currently is used, but almost never teams that they used to play for. Collecting past Edmonton Oilers.... it's tough to find a GU card of someone like Ron Tugnutt, without knowing what team he would be pictured on (and that's the type of card that I often ask for in trades).

I personally think the best way is to divide into subcategories. for example I just made my bucket, and these are the sub categories I have

    Autos FT
    Auto Jersey Patch Combos FT
    Jerseys FT
    Patches FT
    Numbered Cards FT
    Rookies FT
    - 2007-08 and Earlier
    - 2008-09
    - 2009-10 and 2010-11
    Inserts FT
    - 2006-07 and Earlier
    - 2007-08 and 2008-09
    - 2009-10
    - 2010-11

I like to keep it so that there isnt one section with too many cards. I think the section in my bucket that has the most cards is my 2009-10 inserts with 80

    Hope that helps

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went with a new look in my bucket and the biggest difference is putting the years for rookies instead of just piling them altogether since that is the majority of what I have.

I also kept the better cards on the main page instead of piling them into the other categories.

I set up a post probably 10 years ago (pre PB) asking for some ideas for people to standardize their pages. Some are by name, some by team, some by type.
