    Card Shops in Calgary

Hey peoples....going to be in Calgary next week, heading to Edmonton this morning, and was wondering if anyone has any info on some hockeycard shops in Calgary...also going to be heading through Banff and heard there was one there also. I kind of need the info before noon as I am on the highway by then. Keep in mind I have never been to Calgary so need either a street address or a good landmark (I don't have gps).

    Thanks a heap

    I like Maple Leaf Sports
    1043 - 40th Ave NW
It's in a strip mall at the intersection of Northmount Drive and 40th Ave NW

    or

If you just want cheap boxes try Quecan
    2219 35th Ave NE
I'd call first to make sure they're open (403) 717-9001

Appreciate the info, really looking for 04/05 ITG Franchises boxes. I will check those places out but if Quecan sells the cheaper stuff probabaly my best bet.

The map helped...traumatize me . I am from a pretty small town, 50,000ish and don't mind driving around it however I am staying at a hotel on McLeod Trail south and don't know about weaving my truck (which I love dearly) through that drive...from the map it looks like a disaster waiting to happen. Maybe cab it there or does the LRT (which is also going to be a sweat causer) sneak anywhere around there?

If you're looking for 04/05 I doubt Quecan will have it. I don't know if they have anything pre-lockout. Most of their stuff is from the last few seasons but like I said it's as cheap as I've seen for most stuff, including online.

Maple Leaf Sports will have a good selection and their prices are actually pretty good.

As for Banff, I didn't even know they had a card store but when I search Google Map it says there's one on Banff Ave. I wish I would have known that, I was in Banff all last weekend. My guess though is since Banff is such a tourist spot that there prices are pretty high. On a side note, there's a place on Banff Ave that has jerseys on sale right now. I got an Islanders 3rd jersey and a Senators 3rd jersey for $80 each. The guy said they're clearing out their old stock so all their jerseys in the store are on sale for $80. I'd check that out if you're up there and get a chance. I can't remember the name of it but if you're coming into Banff from Calgary it's on the far end of Banff Ave on the the right side of the street.

The LRT really doesn't go near Maple Leaf Sports. You'd have a long train ride and a long walk ahead of you from McLeod Tr South. A cab would be expensive, I'd say at least $40. You're best bet would be to jump on the Deerfoot and head North to 32nd Ave. If you head West on 32nd Ave (left off the Deerfoot off-ramp) it eventually turns into 40th Ave NW (don't ask me why or how). Once you get to Northmount Dr. there's Maple Leaf Sports. It's actually pretty easy, but I've also lived here my whole life

I will probably check out that Sports store in Banff, I have the 08/09 Islander jersey (Trent Hunter auto on it ) and would like to get my hands on the alternate. Thanks for the info.

There's also Eastridge Hobbies in the south. Their prices are pretty good especially on boxes. They're at 362-8338 18th Street SE.
