A Very Hobby Christmas
By Karine Hains aka Pheebs888 December 23rd 1991, it’s cold in Quebec City, very cold… That doesn’t stop my cousins and me from heading to the local ice rink for our (almost) daily fix of hockey. There big kids, small kids, parents are absorbed in a 25 a-side match which will likely last all day. You [...]

Ahhh The Mask.
That was definitely the one that all of us wanted back then. I was so happy when I finally got one. I traded away a Brett Hull OPC RC for that, a full set of 90-91 OPC Premier, and probably a bunch of other less memorable stuff too.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Wow! Thats a lot to give up for the mask card. Luckily I pulled the mask card when I was a kid and then proceeded to trade it for about 40 goalie cards of the players I collected. I told me sister when I got home and she was upset with me as she liked Patrick Roy a lot and enjoyed looking at the card. Years later I picked the card up for a couple dollars at a flea market and made sure to show my sister that I had finally gotten it back.
When Pro Set came out everyone wanted that Roy mask card BAD!! My hockey store where I got my skates sharpened sold packs of pro set and I use to get 1 or 2 packs everytime my parents took me to get my skates sharpened. AS much as I liked the card, I despised the Habs and Roy at the times as I was a devoted Leafs fan. Dougie, Potvin and Wendel were the guys I really wanted!

Yeah but I didn't care that much about Hull, so to get *the* card plus the full set (I actually had to go back to the person because they "conveniently" ommitted the Bure) for it was nice.

Awesome article!! I like how it flows, unlike mine, in which I stick pieces of information on one half of the page, and then write about somethin else on the other half lol

It is also deeply interesting which makes it an attracting article to read. I like how the beginning part of the article connects with the rest of the article...very well done!

Very entertaining read. I almost felt like I was there. lol I never collected hockey when I was young, only football. Although I do know that exact feeling.
I wanted a Joey Galloway RC from Skybox more than anything in the world. I was 10 at the time and my brother was (and still is) a huge collector and I'd go with him to the LCS in town (when we actually still had one). Sometimes he'd buy me packs or my parents would give me some money when I went there with him. I never did pull one, but I remember in 4th grade we had to write a letter to someone famous that we admired. I choose Joey Galloway. A few weeks later I got a letter from Mr. Galloway and enclosed was a 1995 Skybox Joey Galloway RC AUTOGRAPHED! That was one of my most cherised things as a kid. It still sits in my box of PC cards, now in a one touch rather than screw down. I still love to take it out sometimes and look at it. It's not worth but maybe $2, but it's priceless to me.
