KSA Grading? Cases are Junk.
So I searched the forums and couldn't get KSA to come up in a single post.
I purchased a Nash SPx rookie stars auto/jersey card on EBay recently which was graded a KSA 10. I bought it because I wanted the card and the price was decent, not because it was graded.
Anyway, the card arrived today and I ran my fingernail under the edge of the case and will hardly any pressure at all the case opened right up!
The card and the grade are legit because it's a numbered card and the number is listed on the grade. I just think it's funny - what a piece of crap! Based on the way the case opened, I'm pretty sure it had never been opened before, but based on this experience with KSA, I don't think I'll be sending them any cards anytime soon!
One top of everything else, the case is pretty scratched up and detracts from the card.

It may have been tampered with already if it's easy to open like that. It should be as good as PSA at the very least.

You're probably right - but I don't understand why. The card is authentic and numbered but just in case I requested verification from KSA.
Like I said, it doesn't matter to me as I didn't buy it for the grade. It's a plain blue jersey swatch so that wasn't tampered with.
If the case hadn't been so scratch up I probably wouldn't have messed with it. I guess I just put the card in the one touch and save the case for the H of it.

Scratches on KSA/PSA/BGS/SGC holders are a problem. This is why I don't like grading which is way more a business over a quality service for collectors. How many graded "gem mint" cards without perfect corners that I have seen over the years...

Scratches on a holder a problem? That's why Ultra-Pro invented graded card sleeves.

Absolutely a problem. Dealers don't use sleeves, moreover they don't meticulously manipulate holders, this is why most graded holders are scratched 2 minutes after beeing in the hands of a dealer. Check the dealer's showcases on card shows, you'll see by yourself.

Knock on wood, but I have yet to buy a graded card with a scratch so noticeable that I'm not happy about it. It's better than some people laying their fingerprints all over the card, but that's just me.
