which is better - in your opinion..
not even sure where i stand on this so i thought i'd seek outothers opinions.
lets say i have a graded card
nothing special
say a topps Yzerman RC graded 7 by PSA
from a traders perspective (mine)
is it better to leave it in the case as a graded 7
or trade it as a NM/MT RC.
i realize that i am witholding certain information on the card,
but some will argue a PSA 7 is a Beckett 7.5- 8.
so these assumptions become arbitrary anyways...
opinions please

My opinion is to leave it graded. That way there is no disputing as to the condition of the card. You pop it out of the case, you could possibly end up in lengthy trade talks regarding its condition.

yeah...plus it hurts Karma if you try to pass it off as something higher imo...im sure thats not your intent, but someone could possibly think its a 8 or something and get a raw end of the deal
Please check my inventory before my photobucket!!! It's more up to date!!!

Personally speaking, I'd rather trade for the card that wasn't graded a 7. Identical condition, one in the case, graded; and the other is au natural... I'd rather have the one that was on its own, minus the case.

With a vintage card like that, the graded one. With all the cards that were counterfeited in that era, it ensures that you have the real thing and in a more-than-acceptable condition. I don't know if Yzerman RCs were faked to the extent of Roy, Gretzky, Mario, and Hull, but better safe than sorry.

Regular cards graded a 7, that are not older than the Gretzky Rookie of 79-80 OPC, or that are also Topps, during Yzerman's reign, don't carry much clout.
A "7" say from 1933-1975, then you've got something. 7's while Yzerman played are a dime a dozen. I'd smash the case, but there's no way any Yzerman 7 won't have a OC issue either front or back, or a fuzzy OPC Wire-Cut edge
I might be guessing, but I'll bet it's one of the two issues.

yeah i just checked the card
the Yzerman is a becket 7.5
and the main issue is centering (7.0)
and mostly on the back
all your reasonings are valid. and i understand where you're coming from.
i kinda like the idea of an "official" rating for the card.
and will probably leave it in the case
thanx guys

I had the exact same concern, with the same card, only it's BCCG 9, NM or better. Still in the case, but may take it out. I prefer cards in their "natural state".
