The terms get used to describe the frequency you would see that type of card.

Upper Deck Series 1 (I'll use it, becuase its the product I know the best)..... the case would be:

    - Patch cards (#/15, average of 1 per case)
    - Acetate cards (numbering varies, average of 1 per case)
    - Hockey Heroes SPs (Painting & Header) averaging 1 of each per case
    - Exclusives Spectrum (a base set parallel, #/10)
    - All World Team Short Prints (I forget the frequency on these)
    - The Brodeur Retro RC (#551) shows up once every two cases, if I'm not mistaking.

Anything else (AWT regular inserts, Hockey Heros inserts, Young Guns, Exclusives, Retro Parallels, Game Jerseys) are inserted at a rate of 1 (or more) per box - making them "box hits" rather than case hits. (Though I think people more commonly just say "hits").

As for the Hall, what are the odds of pulling one? If the odds of a Rookie Showcase card is measured in its frequency per box, I would not call it a case hit. With 250 copies, I suspect that's the case?

Thanks for the info on box/case hit-didnt realise it was so technical,i just seen it was #/250, figured that maybe it was a difficult pull.

Well, getting a Hall specifically likely is. That type of card though... not so much.

Also - don't confuse "case hit" with "best card in case". Just becuase a particular type of card shows up once per case, doesn't mean it's valuable (it will still depend on who is on that card). The last time I pulled a #/15 patch from an Upper Deck pack..... I think I sold it for about $10. (It was Donald Brashear). I would have been much happier had I pulled a John Tavares Young Gun from that pack instead.

Again - 'Case Hit' is only refering to the frequency of that type of card being pulled. The fact that you got a jersey card, #ed of 250, of this year's top rookie..... I would be worried about what to call it. Very nice card!

There is also an Issue Hit.

96-97 Pinnacle Mint Coins - in Pure Gold were 1:3,500 Cases I believe. So they put One Gold Coin of each player in certain boxes.

They were the first company to do an Issue Hit, then Topps Gold Label, then UD, now everybody is doing it with the 1/1's.

I agree. The type of card, "Rookie Showcase /250" isnt a case hit. However hall is really good and really rare.
