ITG Between The Pipes Preview and Discussion Thread
ITG's latest e-newsletter contains some cool information and photos of the forthcoming release...
Every year the challenge is to make Between The Pipes better than the last year. We have come up with some great new ideas for our base cards, autograph cards, game-used memorabilia cards and our non-memorabilia insert cards, so we believe the 2010-11 Between The Pipes will be the best Pipes yet.Between The Pipes Won't Disappoint
This year the base card checklist has been expanded to 200 cards including two new subsets; One Game Wonders and Women In The Net.

The autograph card checklist is one of the largest ever featuring hobby favorites along with some new additions to BTP, namely; Bob Sauve, Chico Resch, Cesare Maniago, Darren Pang, Pokey Reddick, John Garrett, Frank Pietrangelo, Kelly Hrudey, Murray Bannerman, Mike Vernon and Steve Penney.

The authentic game-used memorabilia card insert sets are mouth watering.
And the non-memorabilia insert sets won't disappoint either.

On sale April 14, 2011.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

As always I'll be going after all the Price stuff I can get my hands on. There's always an auto and some GU stuff, so that's good.
The "Ready, Willing, and Able" tandems look cool, but the name doesn't do anything for me.
I know that there are some folks that are in support of having Tom Fenton autos and all that, but to me it's little different than the feeling I get when I pull a YG of a "one-game wonder" - i.e. knowing that I'll be stuck with the card forever unless his mother comes along asking for it. It's cool that it's there because it wouldn't be if people didn't want it, but it's not something I'm personally interested in getting as my hit.
BTP's always one of the most desirable sets of the year, and I have little doubt that this year will be any different. Looking forward to it!

Looks like an awesome set as always! Hopefully there will be some Bishop or Jake Allen cards. I'll have to get a copy of the Panger auto too!

I love how Dr. Price listened to our suggestions. I know someone suggested the one-game wonders set, I suggested the Stanley Cup final dual memorabilia.
My mouth is now watering, I so need to get me a case of this to bust open once this comes out. Here's hoping for an Irbe/Hasek "Showdown" memorabilia card.

Looks like it could be a really nice release.
I know there had been some threads of "who would you like to see in the set?" and Pokey Reddick was one I named :)
As I am with all ITG sets, really excited to see the Autograph checklist (and I'll get back to this).
The designs look really nice. How much interest I have in any individual set is going to depend on the checklist..... but I'm really hoping to see some Ranford GU stuff (and autos!) back in this release.
Back to the autos.... I can appriciate the sentiment that pulling a Tom Fenton Auto wouldn't exactly be a big hit for most collectors. I do have a feeling that there are some Phoenix collectors out there that might be very interested, and goalie collectors in general.
If you click on my want list link (in the signature) and scroll to the bottom, you're going to find a lot of Autograph wants, and not many players you've heard of :)
If the one-game wonders set include Nathan Deobald or Aaron Sorchan..... I'll be really happy :) Their stories are really similar to that of Fenton, except it was for a team I collect.
I know some of these autographs seem like they're pretty obscure, but I can't imagine too many people getting overly excited about pulling yet another Dwayne Roloson or Nikolai Khabibulin autograph either.
ITG's products always add a lot of variety to the names now available on the Certified Autograph marketplace, and I do really appriciate that.
And as a side note - I'll give Panini the same props for going outside the box with some of their autographs this year. Bryan Pitton's Rookie Card in Certified was autographed. Pitton has exactly the same number of minutes spent on the ice as guys like Fenton - none, and it was a card I was happy to see made.

Such is the way things go in this crazy and diverse hobby of ours. What works for some won't work for others. You never know what will be a big success until it's actually out there. :)

We'll have to see the autograph checklist, but that Tom Fenton is a base card.
BTP is my fave set every year. I'm happy with the extended base set and the autograph set is familiarly designed and includes some great new names. I'm actually very excited to get my hands on a Steve Penney auto. The GU designs look cool.
Not sure about the "Ready Willing & Able" title either, but no big deal. Not so sure that the Women In Net had to be be pink with gender symbols... I bet the players would cringe to see that just like they did about 20 years ago at the first women's world hockey championship... on the other hand, there's nothing wrong with the colour pink.
Looking forward to BTP this year like I do every year.
