Animal proteins are the only ones that give you all the amino acids you'll need, along with vitamin B12 and efficiently absorbed heme iron, but many people overdo them. I agree that most people need to focus more on veggies. The Bible doesn't prohibit animal proteins, but we can also see from Eden, etc. that vegetables are good for us, and modern science backs up such an assertion.

Cutting back on orange juice (lots of sugar)

The sugar in the Tropicana OJ that I drink daily is 100% natural, not added at all. It has 22mg per cup, which may seem like a lot, but the OJ is great for you in other aspects (130% DV of Vitamin C, 13% DV of Potassium, etc).

You make a good point. When I get low blood sugar (which is often as a T1 diabetic with tight BG control), 100% natural OJ is the way to go. Avoid the so-called fruit juices with high fructose corn syrup and other stuff if you want a healthier sugar boost. That's not to say you can just chug natural OJ all day, but it's healthier than most other sugar forms you can find these days.

Right, I just do one cup a day, maybe two. We always get the 100% juice (with only 4 ingredients) instead of all the flavored stuff.

Plus, natural OJ tastes way better than the juices with corn syrup

I was just on an all veggie fast last month. Since I'm a vegetarian my fast included meat substitues. I missed my boca and morning star but it was all good. I learned how to get very creative with my meal planning.
