Meet Nathan MacKinnon - 'The Next Crosby?'
Shattuck St. Mary's star, Nathan MacKinnon is just 15 years old and is most likely going to be the number 1 pick at the 2011 QMJHL Draft.
He's from the same town as Crosby - Cole Harbour, NS - and scouts believe he is as good as Crosby was at his age. Neighbours of Nathan praise his work ethic so he has every chance to get to where the Pens captain is now.
Crosby attributed to over 2 and 1/2 points a game whilst playing for the coveted school in Minnesota and MacKinnon isn't far off at 2.48 points per game. He was explosive in Midgets (145 pts in just 35 games).
Obviously it's way too early to forsee his future, but people are very excited about this kid!
Anyone follow the Midget or school leagues at all?

Kid is the real deal. I've heard more comparisons to Kane and Stamkos than Crosby though. If he continues to progress well, his potential is to be a top 5 forward in the league who puts up great numbers. Of course, he is still young and everything can change.

Cole Harbour is a small small city, hard to believe two great hockey players could come from there... Too bad I was not a few years younger or I would have been watching Crosby play while in HS. Used to live in Bedford, just next door...

He definetly looks like a future NHL'er, and most likely a good one (1st liner). As good as Sidney Crosby? I doubt it, but maybe he (MacKinnon) will be.

He's pretty much going to go 1st overall in his draft year at this pace. Again though, I don't like the Crosby comparison as much as one to Kane or Stamkos.

I've only read the Crosby comparisons from sources, but I have heard Stamkos a few times to be honest.
