So, outside of every major Canadian media outlet and the coach of the Vancouver Canucks, you're right, nobody is talking about the Torres hit.Last edited by RGM81; 04-18-2011 at 11:35 AM.

I'm talking about fans, not guys that stir the pot and make their living by controversy........
No suspension.
The entire Torres issue is Moot, and will go away quicker than the Blackhawks.Last edited by centrehice; 04-18-2011 at 02:26 PM.

I just find it funny how they keep talking about getting hits to the head out of the game, but let this hit go. And to say, it's a hitting area? Well if you want to put it that way the whole rink is a hitting area, so we shouldn't suspend anyone for hits to the head right? Seabrook was in a unsuspecting position and contact was made only with his head. To me that should be a suspension, and it came from a guy who just came back from suspension. But I guess that's why the NHL brass make the big bucks and i'm just a manager at a pizza joint

It is now, as indeed the NHL has deemed no suspension.
For the sake of my office pool I hope that the Hawks can at least win one in their barn and then get bounced back in Vancouver.

It's interesting to see Blackhawks players talk about how Torres is a dirty player when they have a player by the name of Patrick Kane in their dressing room. If the blackhawks didn't chirp so much then maybe I would have a bit of respect for what they are saying but when you chirp a injured player I have no respect for their players opinions. As for the Torres hit I really didn't care if he got suspended, because I haven't really checked out the new rules on head shots / blind side hits. But I can say this Cody Hodgson played so much better then Torres did. I hope the coaching staff benches Torres if he continues to run around and take penalties that cost his team as the Seabrook hit gave the hawks a chance to come back just lucky for him that they did not get the 3-3 goal. All I am saying is I feel much more comfortable with the rookie (Hodgson) on the third line then Torres at the moment.

Supposedly the league has sent out a DVD that shows hits like that do not warrant a suspension, but an interference penalty. There will be some debate on wheather it should have been a 5 minute interference/charging penalty.
I agree with StanChad. It wouldn't matter too much to me if Torres got suspended since Hodgson seem to be able to fit in nicely. On top of that, Hodgson didn't give the Hawks 2 unnecessary PP opportunities. Torres' penalty helped the Hawks tie it up after the Nucks got 2 quick goals and had all the momentum.
But with the recent hits to the head of Seabrook, they should have taken him back to the "quiet room" right away. It didn't look like the 2nd hit on him by Torres was too hard, but could be enough to aggravate a concussion.

LOL @ "upper body injury" - would it really have pained them to just be honest and say "concussion"?

.................................................. .....................
The Penalty is a blindside hit to the head. It cannot be Interference as Seabroook had the puck, it cannot be charging as Torres did not leave the ice.

yeah it looks the main reason is just like everyone was saying from the transactions during the offseason. With how hard they were hit with cap numbers the Blackhawks got rid of just about every bit of toughness and grinders on their team. Ladd, Byfuglien, Eager, etc. They still have all their scorers but that intensity is gone
