Sometimes I wish that all the Christians who fight abortion laws so hard politically would give even just some of the money they spend toward supporting young mothers who need the help. I think that's a better way to "fight" abortion.

I totally agree. Even though I am against abortion I am even more against people who fight abortion tooth and nail but refuse to do anything to help mothers who chose life for their babies but cannot get any assistance for their child.

The same can be said for those who spend so much money supporting abortion rights. Perhaps if they spent less money trying to kill babies and more trying to care for them then there wouldn't be as much of a need for abortions.
And that article is about a doctor that is performing late-term abortions, not whether or not the mother's are properly supported. I am not sure how PA law reads but I thought that late-term abortions were banned by Federal law.
EDIT: I just found the PA law. If I read it correctly, abortions can only be done after 24 weeks if an independent physician deems it necessary for the mother's health and refers the mother to the abortion doctor.
Since the doctor in the article is being praised for performing abortions that other doctors will not perform, he would appear to be breaking the law. According to what I read, performing abortions after 24 weeks without independent doctor referral is a 3rd degree felony in PA.
