    Beckett Grading vs PSA Grading

I know the notion of grading cards can cause quite the debate in and of itself.

However, amongst those that do submit to grading services, is there a difference between Beckett and PSA? Are cards from service or the other more marketable?

Or is it as simple as Coke vs Pepsi - mere preference?

    Thanks for any feedback!

I would say it's more of a preference. I personally like graded cards because they are housed in a super protective casing, and will always keep their condition for years to come.

I can't tell you how many times I bought or traded for vintage cards and they were trimmed. If the are graded then those chances are significantly reduced. Also any minor issues with the card are identified and calculated in the score so you get what you pay for.

I don't want to trade for trimmed cards. I want gem mint cards and I rarely get them...Even newer cards. After sending in over 400 of my own cards to be graded and many numerous others, I can pretty much tell you what a card will grade out as and I think you would be surprised.

Is it expensive....Yes, sometimes overly, but I think spending money on hockey cards is overly expensive, so it all comes down to what an individual thinks is cool to collect.

As for Beckett vs PSA. Total preference. Nothing more/nothing less. I would stay away from the rest of them though.

I personally like BGS, but I think it just has a lot to do with their cases. I like that they break down stuff like surface, corners, etc.. and with autographs they give a seperate grade.
