Marc Savard exploring competitive golf?
It may not be the Stanley Cup, but Marc Savard is the 2011 Peterborough City & District men's golf champion.
Savard powered the Kawartha Golf and Country Club to the team title in the two-day event which wrapped up Sunday at Pine Crest Golf Club. Savard followed up his opening round 60 at Liftlock Golfland Saturday with a 70 for a two-round total of 130. He was four strokes ahead of clubmate Dan O'Donoghue and Peterborough GCC's Dave Gerolamy who shot an identical 62-72–134.

A runner-up in numerous area tournaments in recent years, Savard's improved short game has taken him to victory this year.
"Finally, yeah," he said, with a laugh. "I needed to get my first win. It's not coming easier, but at least I know the pressures. I made a big birdie on 16 where usually through a tight stretch I'd struggle there. I came up big and I think that's from winning once already."
Savard says he's considering exploring competitive golf at a higher level.
"I'd like to get a teacher. I think I'm getting the most I can out of my game right now. I think there is another level there if I can work with somebody and, maybe, get something going in my swing that works a little better. I might look at doing that, but right now I just enjoy doing what I'm doing," he said.

Considering the concussion problems and likely never returning to the NHL, this could be a decent transition which would still alow him to stay active in sports.
