Hello To Everyone
Hello everyone.
This would be my first post here, but ive been reading a lot in this forum over the past few months. Id like to thank everyone for the wealth of info posted here.
I collected baseball cards heavily as a child in the early and mid 80's boom. In the early 90's, my interests changed and i pretty much stopped collecting the cards of the time. I began taking an interest in and collecting vintage cards which started with a decent collection given to me by my Uncle from him going through his childhood items stored in my grandmas attic. For the last 15 years or so, ive been modestly involved in vintage card collecting. Here and there for the most part with some garage sale scores, and spontanious finds.
Over the last year, I've really become interested in starting to collect the current mainstream baseball issues once again. I've found that somewhat middle aged stabilty place in my life, and can take on and maintain a good hobby, and it would be good for me. What really got me hooked was what seems to be kind of a rejuvenation in the industry. I really like the idea of all these rare cards that are issued these days. The short prints, serial numbered cards, game used, and autograph cards and so on really bring a certain excitement and enjoyment back to the mainstream current cards and collecting them, for me. Im a little out of the current loop, but I've been catching on quick. "Inserts" in my day were diamond kings or crappy gum. And it seems no one consulted me about lowering the value of my my 11 piece jose canseco rated rookie collection... lol.
Im not really into trading or selling at the moment, and Im not setup online for it, but I may have one thing to offer the community. I live in Green Bay Wisconsin. Right near the stadium actually. I hit all the local rummage sales always, looking to pick up the highly sought after old shoebox full of cards. On a regular basis I obtain a lot of Green Bay Packers cards. All kinds. Mostly I pass on the ones from the last 20 years or so, but I get a bunch of vintage Packer cards a couple times a year. Normally I unload them to a local card shop connection in exchange for a single vintage baseball card or 2. I dont generally price the football cards i pick up and have very little interest in them. I'm just not a football or Packer person at all. If theres enough interest, perhaps I can work out putting them up around here. just a thought.
Thanks again to everyone who posts here. You guys have really helped me play catch up over the last few months. I have a few questions that I'll post in the appropriate places.
Cory.

Welcome to SCF Cory.
Nice bio you wrote up there. I hear you on lowering the prices. All my 90's stars and inserts that were worth at least a few bucks ain't hardly worth a dime now. I hope you enjoy the site and if you have any questions about feel free to PM me. I'll be happy to help if you have any questions.
