Cup Printing Plates? Worthy of a player PC?
I have never been a fan of printing plates but after watching Gratzi collect so many of Iginla, I am starting wonder if anyone has any of Dale Hawerchuk, from any Cup year.
What are some opinions of adding plates to player PC's. Sicne they are 1/1's they are tough but I think I am ready to add a few to my PC.
If anyone has any, please let me know and I may look to grab them to go with my other Hawerchuks.
Thanks!
PS - Please post up the printing plates from your player PC like SkyFire47 did below!.Last edited by gomaz; 10-31-2011 at 12:54 AM.

no Hawerchuk plates but my opinion of them? gotta admit, they do look great when you have them all together. i've tried to stick to just the ones from Cup. only did the ones from Black Diamond for the rookie year since i had all the parallels.
05-06 Black Diamond

06-07 The Cup

09-10 The Cup

They are a pain to keep up with then 30+ of them come out with the Cup release and they all get listed during the same time on ebay haha. But Im trying my best and have gotten all of the ones Ive seen except 1 so far. Now that the big Cup rush is over they should come few and far between so it will be much easier grabbing the rest I see.
Heres some quick scans of what Ive picked up so far. I have other plates too though from Series 1 and Victory as well.

Theres more on my site if you click the shield in my sig. :)

I wouldn't consider press plates a must have to complete a PC, but I would jump at the chance to get on of my PC players. I have several plates, but haven't been lucky enough to get my hands on more than one color of the same plate.
Skyfire is right, a display of plates together with the regular is a sweet thing to see.Hidden Content

I likey the printing plates. For my #1a collection, it's pretty much going to be the only 1/1's they'll ever bother making of him. And that's why I like 'em.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Im not a big fan and I don't own any. I sold some that I did have to another big Steve Mason collector and he was happy.

GL with your Hawerchuk cup search. As long as you don't have to fight with a player collector, you'll pick them up pretty inexpensively. I also recommend that you pick up the base card too, even if you only have one from the set. I like the way it makes a presentation. Because I can't spend the $$ for a player collection, I do a theme instead. Every goalie who is credited with a goal.

That reminds me. I have to double check if I'm up to date too. Nothing since '06?

I like the Plates. They add something to a player PC
I only have a few from Winchester (can't pay the money for the Hossa/Foligno/Karlsson ones)

What I don't understand is how I can pick up a Jean Beliveau or Phil Esposito plate for half the price of a Tyler Seguin or Erik Karlsson or a quarter of the price of a PK Subban. HONOR THE PAST!!!! :P

The interesting thing about Printing Plates?
Some players in the NHL are not stars, the only way there can be a 1/1 of them, is via the "Printing Plate".
Those plates become quite collectible if you are in pursuit of a 3rd or 4th line player who cannot depend on a card company to give him a suitable Card 1/1.
They then have a somewhat respectable place.
