    Starting Collection - Alfredsson?

    Hello all.

I recently picked up a bunch of 11-12 S1 tin's on sale to start collecting/selling on eBay and have been thinking about starting my own PC on the side.

In all honesty, over the past few years I've been watching less hockey (sens fan) but if I had to pick a favourite player, I'd definitely say Alfie (easy one right?).

I've been checking around on eBay to see what sort of cards are up for grabs and I'm not really sure where to start. I'm not necessarily interested in filling the collection with "every single alfie card i can get my hands on" right now, but don't really know enough to separate the good from the bad.

I know the 90's were an awkward time for cards because of the mass production, do you guys have any tips for RC's or other early years cards I could start off with?

    Thanks!

Alfie hasn't been overproduced yet (although Panini has their claws on him now) and his card are cheap. Go for it.

I'd imagine that's for the 2000+ years? Any recommendation on what to aim for in his earlier/rookie year?

i don't think many of his RC year cards are hard to get other than Finest cards maybe, but i didn't collect then so i could be wrong....most of them however should be pretty easy to get. like Phoenix said though, he's really cheap considering his point production so it shouldn't be hard getting nicer cards of him either.

have a few of his RC's btw if ur interested and a 2 color JSY from 05-06

Here's a complete list of his RCs:

    1995-96 Be A Player #171 Daniel Alfredsson
    1995-96 Bowman #110 Daniel Alfredsson
    1995-96 Donruss #299 Daniel Alfredsson
1995-96 Donruss Elite #25 Daniel Alfredsson
    1995-96 Finest #116 Daniel Alfredsson S
1995-96 Leaf Limited #25 Daniel Alfredsson
    1995-96 Metal #169 Daniel Alfredsson
1995-96 Select Certified #122 Daniel Alfredsson
1995-96 SkyBox Impact #214 Daniel Alfredsson
    1995-96 SP #100 Daniel Alfredsson
1995-96 Stadium Club #206 Daniel Alfredsson ER
    1995-96 Summit #182 Daniel Alfredsson
    1995-96 Topps #369 Daniel Alfredsson
    1995-96 Ultra #329 Daniel Alfredsson
1995-96 Upper Deck #504 Daniel Alfredsson
    1995-96 Zenith #149 Daniel Alfredsson

From my own recolection, I would suggest Finest, Certified, SP, and Zenith as being the nicer ones of the bunch - but I suspect you can get ANY of these at a pretty low price. I can't imagine that any of these cards sell for more than $1 or $2 as singles.

    Found this lot pretty quickly.

6 different Alfie RCs, 99 cents + s/h. No bids, just over a day left.

Alfie does not have a huge Hobby following, You can easily get started at a very low cost. His items undersell on eBay especially low end items.

If you need any base cards, I have close to 60 different ones.

I think the most important thing to remember when building your PC is to buy or attain what YOU like, not what the hobby tries to dictate......now that you've got the list of Alfie RC's.....cruise ebay and take a look at them and see what ones you prefer and collect them. That goes for the GU'd stuff too. Make sure you spend your money and harvest the cards you will want to keep in your collection. Don't settle.
