Chauncey Billups suffers torn Achilles

Los Angeles Clippers guard Chauncy Billups suffered a torn left Achilles tendon Monday night and will miss the remainder of the season, the team announced Tuesday.

Billups suffered the injury with 5:59 left in the fourth quarter of the Clippers' 107-102 overtime victory over the Orlando Magic on Monday. An MRI on the tendon Tuesday in Cleveland revealed the severity of the injury.

Amare Stoudemire out for weekend

Amare Stoudemire is expected to return to the New York Knicks on Monday.

Stoudemire left for Florida two days ago to mourn the loss of his brother, Hazell, who died in a car crash Monday morning. He missed that night's game against Utah and will miss Wednesday's game against the Wizards in Washington, Friday's home game against the Los Angeles Lakers and Saturday's game at Minnesota.

Bulls' Derrick Rose a game-time call

NEW ORLEANS -- Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose expects to face the New Orleans Hornets on Wednesday night, two days after he had to leave a game with back spasms.

"[My] back is feeling better," Rose said. "I should be ready to go tonight; game-time decision. I'm going to see how it is when I go out there and I should be all right."

Carmelo Anthony out 1-2 weeks

GREENBURGH -- New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony is out approximately 1-2 weeks after straining his right groin, the team announced Tuesday.

Anthony scored two points and played just five minutes in Monday's 99-88 win over the Jazz. He threw an alley-oop to center Tyson Chandler midway through the first quarter and started to limp shortly after.

Rising Stars Challenge list chosen

NEW YORK -- All-Star Blake Griffin and rookie guards Kyrie Irving and Ricky Rubio headline the list of 18 players chosen for the Rising Stars Challenge to be held during All-Star weekend.

In this year's new format, first- and second-year players will be mixed in the Feb. 24 game in Orlando. TNT analysts Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal will serve as general managers and draft players for their teams.
Other second-year players chosen Wednesday were John Wall (Washington), DeMarcus Cousins (Sacramento), Landry Fields (New York), Paul George (Indiana), Gordon Hayward (Utah), Greg Monroe (Detroit), Tiago Splitter (San Antonio) and Evan Turner (Philadelphia).

The rookies joining No. 1 pick Irving and Rubio are Kemba Walker (Charlotte), MarShon Brooks (New Jersey), Brandon Knight (Detroit), Kawhi Leonard (San Antonio), Markieff Morris (Phoenix), Tristan Thompson (Cleveland) and Derrick Williams (Minnesota).

Well so much for the Clippers going anywhere this season............. Maybe they should go after the other former Nugget Wilson Chandler to make up for Billups injury.

I wonder how the new Rising Stars game is going to play out with the rooks and sophomores drafted to team against each other.
