    Getting back into the game......

I sold my whole collection in 1998 but am getting the itch again. I have been looking on Ebay for some deals so I can build my collection back up again. I have just recently bought a house and my funds are not exactly high right now for a hobby. What I was thinking of doing is buying some older cheap wax boxes and sets and hopefully getting some of the good cards out of them to get graded so I would have something to trade with. I noticed some Bonds and among other players rookies with PSA 10's are getting some high bids, and may be a tradable commonty. A couple of quick questions, is this the right way to go? When your opening these packs, what are the chances of a PSA 10 instead of a 9 or 8? If this isn't the way to go with limited funds, what is the right way? And one more quick question, what is the best grading company to go through?
I know allot of my questions probley make me sound stupid, but I have not been in the game in a while. Thanks in advance......

Welcome back....you had to know it would suck you back in lol :P

I am in no ways an expert so you will have to wait for someone else to come along to help you out with your questions (I collect lower end non graded stuff and never open packs) but I just wanted to say hi and welcome you back into the hobby :)

    Peace~

Man, I think your choosing a tough route.

Going after graded cards as you listed it.. would be fairly time consuming given the large learning curve, and would surely hit you in the pocket book a few times.

I would pick a Era, Team or player(s) then buy singles off Ebay, or here. you could always dable with buying mid-range product for trade bait if you get the "Box-Break Bug"

Edit: Read our Graded card forum (Use the forum jump feature bottom of this page) for company breakdowns.

just some advice from someone else that just decided to "get back in"...I am always hesitant to spend the $$ on cards...what I do is on the first of the month is transfer $100.00 to my paypal account. I let it sit there and do the same each month. I ONLY spend what I have in that account. If I see something that is $150.00 and I only have $100.00 in there then I must sell on eBay or on here, I cannot allow myself to add more or spend any credit card money...basically this limits me to spending $1200.00 per year on cards (not bad for a primary hobby) unless I sell items I already own. So perhaps start with $100.00 of your own, search for some good eBay single items or purchase 1-2 boxes from Dave and Adams Card World and just do the same each month. Good Luck
