    Quick question about IP Signatures

Hey so I have a PC collection of a player, and usually at least once a year can sit down with him and get stuff signed. So my question is - I have about 250 different cards of him, and am wondering if getting signatures on certain cards is a no-no lol. (ie: low numbered cards, jersey cards, rare specialty cards, already signed cards, "cards usually priced above $30ish")? This has to do especially with cards that I can/will only get 1 of due to either rarity or price. Looking for some feedback on this matter.
I already have 100's of "base/high numbered cards" signed.

(could probably get all 250 signed at once, but not sure if that's "okay" to do) I know it's personal preference in the end but wondering what everyone else does/might do.

    Thanks

General rule of thumb is to have the athlete sign base cards. Specialty cards such as GU'ed, patches, and already signed cards usually you don't want to have signed in person as it may devalue the card. That's just my two cents for what it's worth.

IMO - It depends on what you want to do with the card(s) after the fact.

You are collecting them, and if you'd like to get a bunch of 'better' cards signed, and have them as part of your collection that way - why the heck not?

The only issue with getting them signed, is if you think that you're making them valuable - and therefore better to trade / sell later.

If you've got a card Jersey #ed /30, and someone is working on that set..... by getting it signed, it's unlikely that set builder will want the card. If you decide to move a bunch of the cards and another player collector sees a bunch that he needs - but they've been signed - he may no longer consider them to be 'mint' and be less willing to spend his max value on them.

The way that I always look at it - if you get the card signed, you now have an IP auto, and the value of the card you got signed means squat.

At the end of the day, do what's best for you and your collection. If you want to get a jersey card signed, get it signed.

The stuff about selling it in the future - if you're a fan of the guy you're less likely to want to even try to sell something that you got signed *specially* just for yourself, amiright? The items I've gotten signed by players in person or through the mail are mine forever. They're not going anywhere. I'm going to do what I want with them, some I may get signed and others I'll leave as they are. But I can think of at least 4-5 really nice cards in my collection that would look even better with some hard-signed ink on them. :)
