Psa/dna
Does anyone have a feel for whether PSA/DNA certification of autographs on cards are reliable? There are autos of so many different players up on ebay at any one time; some of the players have been dead for years. How does PSA/DNA certifiy the autos? Where do they get the known specimens to compare against?

All they do is compare the autograph to known good ones. I believe they have a network of reliable dealers, sources where they get scans of good samples. Getting an item psa/dna certified increases your chances of getting a legit autograph, but by no means is it a guarantee. They are only human & make mistakes too. If you know what a legit autograph of a certain player looks like, then you are just as much of an expert as they are in some cases.

I do not know that much about the psa/dna cards but I do know that for some reason you can pick up psa/dna memorbilia for fairly cheap which does scare me just a little bit. I think that because they certify autographs after the fact there is a little bit of hesitancy to purchase their products. I know I was able to win an auction for an autographed baseball certified by psa/dna for only $30 when it should have gone for $250-$300. This is just my experiance though, but by no means am I saying that they are rip offs. I believe them to be legit, but when you are comparing can you ever be 100% accurate?
