    M. Brown Fired

Marc Stein is reporting that the Lakers have fired Mike Brown as coach. This seems a little early in the season to be doing this and they seem to be panicking. They have a few new players and chemistry is king in the NBA and it seems GM's are always changing the team he coaches. One of there players is hurt, they have a terrible bench. If they re-sigh DH12 for max in the off season, there'll have to pay a 90 million luxury tax next year Kobe is leaving the season after that. This is a team in trouble long term.

Seems like a panic move or they just realized he was never the right person for the job. A 5 game trial period isn't much especially when one star is out and another is just getting back into shape.

It's the latter. He was never right. He doesn't get respect the players. They don't want to work for him. Especially stars.

It's a tough job. Most coaches have no stars, or one star, and the team's success is often defined by that interaction. The Lakers have 4, plus the head-case that is Ron Artest. That's a tough job.

There are only 3 guys on the planet that can handle this: Phil Jackson, Jerry Sloan, and Coach K. Coach K isn't going anywhere. Phil and Jerry have each had a year off to rest and relax, and between the two, one should be ready to get back on the sidelines.

Alternatively, there is still Brian Shaw.

    At least, so I hope.

I don't see Phil coaching this team knowing kobe is leaving after next year and that's prolly when they're going to be good, Sloan is a good choice, Mcmillian might be, there's always Shaw.

All right then, let's get the season started for real this time.

If only I could watch the games on tv.

Do you non-Socal guys know about the tv fiasco? In previous years every Laker game has been on tv. This year, most people in Socal haven't had access to any of the games (except espn, tnt, etc) because of cable giant Time Warner playing hardball with the other cable companies.
