Marquee is a new release to the product line for Panini. The full set breaks down to 100 current players, 50 legends and 80 rookies interspersed throughout five rookie levels. That is a total of 540 cards. Very undaunting to say the least. The veterans and legends are showcased on a sturdy, foil board card that gives off a shine. Expect to get all the veterans in one box, but then the collecting work begins.

With the double rookie class, it has been an interesting ride to see how Panini would incorporate the rookies this collecting year. In Marquee, they put the wheels into overdrive and essentially created a 390-card rookie set. There are five groups/levels for the rookies. That wouldn't be so bad, except most rookies are featured in every group. So that means a possiblity of 5 rookie cards in the set. Which one is the true rookie card? Each group is different from the others in design. Some use sparkle, glitter and swirls, while others use die cuts or see-through windows.

There are five insert sets available in Marquee, though we only saw four appear in our box. Looks like the decision was to just copy the designs for the various rookie sets and highlights the veterans and legends. The inserts are appear approximately 1:2 packs. And on a side note, die cut letters on a non-jersey card are easier to receive damaged or end up damaging. This was noticed during the break.

Each box of Marquee will yield three autographs on average. The basic autographs will be the generic unnumbered veterans, legends or rookie signatures. However, there are two chase signature sets. One features the various coaches and will be numbered to 299 or less. The other is called Election Night and will be numbered to 199 or less.
