Forgive me if I'm reading the receipt wrong but if the bill is $34.93 and the automatic tip is 18% wont that already be included? The bit where the pastor has written 0 is on the additional tip no? So in fact she actually paid the 18%??

I believe he crossed out the 18% which you can see and then put 0 because the total is 34.93 as amount.Most receipts have the amount then tip then you right in what the new total is

Yeah I get that when its not an automatic tip. Its just the wording 'adtl tip'. So the $34.93 would be the price + tax but no including the automatic tip?
Do you tip on the food price or the price including tax because obviously in some states waitresses would earn more/less for the same food? You Americans must be mathematical geniuses.

Figure out if $6.whatever is 18% of 34.whatever. That'll tell you which it is.
