I'm a little surprised too. I was happy when I heard they were convicted, but 1 and 2 years seems light.

i'm pleased to see that the DA may have a pair and go after the rest of these kids who all knew and were most certainly accessories after the fact. For 30 kids to know and all think its some type of joke is beyond disturbing.

I don't know but I think these convictions will eventually be overturned.

I have no idea what all was sent via text, but here in WV if teens text pictures of a sexual nature, even if it is a pic of themselves, they can be charged with transferal/transportation of child pornography.

The kid who got 2 years got one for the act and one for sending nude photos of a minor, according to the story I saw a couple days ago.

Veg, why do you think it will be overturned? Do you think that's legitimate or just distrust the legal system that much.

I followed the case somewhat and while I agree that something went on that night that shouldn't have it wasn't a full blow "rape" per se and I can see a higher court either overturning it all together or at least reducing or eliminating some of the charges.

I haven't seen a lot of this case, but saw video of one of the kids making a statement to the girls mom. He was pretty broken up. It seemed like he knows what type of damage he's done to this girl. Sucks that he couldn't have recognized that before he did what he did. I have no idea why they would be overturned with the video and communication evidence. At this point the best thing that can happen (for the guys) is for them to learn from this and become better people once they have done their time. MOst importantly, Hopefully the girl will be able to cope with what happened to her and be able to live her life.

the governor is involved now, hopefully these punks will get way more time and more arrests will be made

If they are guilty of rape beyomd doubt they should be castrated.Or face at least 20 years
