So how many times has marriage been REDEFINED in history....A LOT!
So, lets think back in history of what marriage was...
Hundreds of Years ago marriage was very wide....from a contract, polygamy, to incestuous, and yes even pedophilia.
- As many might now, families would regularly have contract marriages, an exchange of their daughter to a man usually for money, animals, or other property.
- In this same time period, polygamy was perfectly natural for kings, nobleman, and other high ranking individuals.
- In this same time period, incestuous marriages were also perfectly natural, since some families wished to remain "pure".
- In this same time period, it was perfectly natural to see a full grown man with a very young girl....11 or 12.
Let's jump ahead to recent times...
We redefined marriage to be about LOVE between one man and one woman....of the same skin color.
Until 1967 it was ILLEGAL to marry outside your race.
We of course changed that.
Now we jump to the present day.
We no longer have "contract marriages", "Incestuous marriages", "Pedophile marriages", Polygamy, and we allow any race to marry any other race.
So....what was that about not redefining marriage?
Because throughout the history of humanity, it has been redefined many, many times.
@Christians, your own bible shows some of these marriages that no longer exist.....including "Contract marriages", polygamy, and incest.Last edited by JustAlex; 04-06-2013 at 05:52 AM.

now you are back to associating the old covenant with the new, Jesus tells us it is a man and woman who are equal in the eyes of God.
the things you left out were;
marriage was to unite two families, a marriage was used to have children to help share in the work, a marriage created the next generation of adults.

I don't have a problem with the state offering marital counseling but some marriages are beyond repair and if a divorce is not granted ASAP things can get real ugly.
