The world's largest ice hockey complex is coming to the Bronx.
Mayor Bloomberg - flanked by hockey great Mark Messier and Olympic skating star Sarah Hughes announced a $275 million deal that will transform the long-shuttered Kingsbridge Armory into a 750,000 sq. ft. winter sports facility.
The Kingsbridge National Ice Center will be open year-round, have nine regulation-size playing surfaces and be used to host national and international hockey tournaments.
Professional players may get ice time, too: The National Hockey League is interested in using the planned complex as a practice site for visiting teams, officials said.
