UD Blog Post
When I read this blog post by UD http://upperdeckblog.com/2013/05/the...cal-card-shop/ it makes me feel like I have to "bribe" or suck up to my LCS owner in order to get a hold of 2013/14 UD products. It makes it seem like next years product is going to be limited and only those that are close to the owners are going to get the product they want, unless I'm reading this wrong. According to the post:
" if you are just another face in the crowd, they may not be as inclined to take care of you like they would their other customers"
I'm not a regular at my LCS so they don't know me by name, so I guess if my LCS doesn't want my money then I'll spend my money elsewhere.

I had a laugh and texted my LCS guy that I will bring him a sandwich so that he takes care of me. He says that if I buy cases & cases he will buy me a sandwich.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

Wow. All I can say is wow. I'll refrain from swearing, but something that selfserving and arogant from UD..... I can't believe that a company would allow something that asinine to be posted. One of their social media guys might be out of a job.
Unless UD plans on short printing all their product next year (which they won't. That would mean less $$$ for them) there will be plenty of product to go around.
I'm looking forward to the "double rookie class" as much as the next guy, but anyone who thinks this is going to make UD Series 1 (or any product, for that matter)) harder to get, they're a sucker. Do you think that most people are going to care that Mikhail Grigorenko might be the 12th best rookie card next year, instead of the 6th?
As far as secondary market values go, once the 13-14 RCs are live.... I betcha this does nothing but drive down the values of Yakupov & the other top 12-13 guys.
Make sure I bring lunch for my LCS owner, or help him clean the place up? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I like the guys who run the shop. Happy to buy from them. Not on a first name basis, but they know me. Spending my money there, that's what I do for them.
Just wow Upper Deck. You're making it easier and easier to cut down on how much of your stuff I buy.

These are the same guys that blogged a couple months ago about rolling their eyes at collectors being upset about redemptions.

Yup.
At least be honest. Say what you really mean. "Be nice to your LCS owner" in this case is code for "Make sure to buy our remaining 12-13 products, that nobody is going to want.... especially since we're going to be releasing 13-14 products before all of them are out."

Woooooooooow.... Some of these guys at UD seriously need to attend some modern marketing classes. If anything it's creepy to tell collectors that they need to svck up to their LCS just so that they can buy UD products because everyone and their grandma's going to throw themselves over to the LCS to buy 6 cases of their stuff. I believe we'll see the opposite from UD, they'll flood the market and produce more than usual to make up for the 12-13 losses and the distributors and LCS will be left with a hefty overstock.
I nominate this for most insipid blog post ever by a sports card company.
Why don't they use their blog to post details about upcoming products, do some give-aways, contests, etc.

Almost seems like UD is taking credit for the Double Rookie crop...

I don't think this post is meant to be taken seriously, just a way of drumming up excitement for the product and double rookie class. LCS owners will be more than happy to accept your money whether you make them a sandwich/clean their display cases or not. Getting the product before it sells out should be your only concern.
Exactly.

I'm guessing this is a "joke" article. It looks like something I would read on "The Onion"

Well if this article isn't just a joke (which it is) and we should be sucking up to the LCS owners I hope mine doesn't forget the McDonalds I brought him a few months ago LOL.
Seriously, why was this article even written? UD should be ashamed to put out something so stupid....but then again after looking at the last few years of SP Game Used it appears this article is the stupidest thing UD has put out.
