Help Me Price This
flacco5 had such a great response from the community here with his question that I think I will enlist your help as well. I finally found a Brett Connolly The Cup Laundry Tag /5 from someone I trade with all the time. Started the conversation with him in January where he was looking for $300 for it. I e-mailed him earlier this week and he said that he would take $275 for it. He said that he has no problems holding onto it until he starts playing regularly which might be in September. I have never seen one of these pop up on eBay and I initially offered him $225 for it back in January. He revealed to me that he paid $200+ shipping for it way back when I guess. My question is, is his asking price spot on or is he trying to recoup some funds on maybe a bad purchase since Connolly so far is unproven in the NHL. If he was your PC guy would you splash the cash for it (assuming that you had it) or would you wait and take your chance to see if one pops up on eBay. Curious to hear people's thoughts on it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Well I don't think it's anyone's business but his own as to what justifies his asking price. Recoup funds or not, his card his price. If it was a Scheifele, I would jump on it, how often does the Laundry Tag /5 come available. Also, why not just spend the $50 and meet the $275 asking price? I'm sure there will be many more cards purchased in the future for below market value prices, thus balancing out the different opinions of value on this card.
Just my thoughts.

I would probably wait judging from other sales. Hagelin sold for $208, and he sells pretty well. Ben Scrivens, has a decent following being a Leaf, sold for $90. And Scheifele sold for $340, who is more collected than Connolly and is on the Jets.
I honestly think the Connolly Laundry Tag would be lucky to hit $200, the buyer likely overpaid for it relative to what someone could probably get it for. He's on Tampa and played most of the year in the AHL, neither of those factors help his value despite him being a high pick.
But it is a rare card and with not many others going around, the seller sets the price
