First NHL Autographs of San Jose Sensation Tomas Hertl Hitting 2013-14 Select Hockey
While San Jose Sharks 19-year-old sensation Tomas Hertl didn’t break the Internet Tuesday night with a mesmerizing four-goal display against the New York Rangers that included a reality-defying, between-his-legs capper, the 2012 first-round pick out of the Czech Republic had to have come precariously close. Twitter went berserk, YouTube went berserk and all across North America, collectors went berserk.
All the while, officials at Panini America continued counting down the hours to November 6, when the company’s 2013-14 Select Hockey product arrives in stores equipped with Hertl’s first NHL autograph and autograph memorabilia Rookie Cards.

Seriously, guys? It was a great game for him, but come on... remember saying the same about guys like Gilbert Brule, Angelo Esposito and Al Montoya? He's a great player, sure, but he's not exactly The Next One.
Sorry 'bout the rant, eh?

Haha, people had higher expectations for Montoya than being a backup, eh? I remember he was seen as the next big thing in New York until Lundqvist came along and earned the starting position.

How many 4-goal games does Angelo Esposito have? Heck, how many NHL games does he have?
Not a fair comparison.
The kid's lighting it up and as a consequence there is a major buzz around him. It's no different than last year in the NFL when Colin Kaepernick stepped in for an injured Alex Smith and lit up Da Bears on MNF. Instant. Star. Born.

While I doubt the kid is going to score 4 in a game again any time soon, I noticed him in the preseason when Vancouver played San Jose and I was surprised at how the kid played. He was definitely noticeable and it continued through the first game of the season, as he played really well in that routing of the Canucks. Last night, he played well again.
While I don't know if he'll be a phenom, he's a very good player, not Angelo Esposito. Barring injury, he'll be around awhile.
