Upper Deck Edmonton Oilers Collection (Checklist Added 11/26)

This stuff is 130+$. I had to make a choice and I decided to collect the Team Canada set, and forget that Oilers release.

I'm actually really impressed with the checklist. They didn't go as heavy on current players as I thought they would.

There's no game used, which is too bad, but the Team Logo Patches look pretty nice... and a nice mix of players, all eras.

One name that I was really hoping to see, and did not make it, was Ron Chipperfield (only Oilers Captain missing from the set) and I also expected Glen Sather to be in there... but not as big of a deal that he's out.

Lots, but not too much, Ranford in there. A trip auto with Fuhr & Moog will be a welcomed addition for me.

The other thing I'll mention, for those that are interested in this kind of thing, there are 5 guys in the set who have never signed for a card company before (sorry Rich, I was wrong in those PMs, lol):

Jason Chimera
Mark Lamb
Pat Hughes
Willy Lidstrom

(Chimera & Hordichuk could be in 13-14 stuff though???)


Will have to talk to my LCS this weekend, and see what the price is. Then.... it's time to start selling stuff to buy singles :)

Just saw the checklist and I too am very impressed! Of all of the single autos, I'm probably most interested in picking up the Charlie Huddy auto. Still haven't added his ITG Franchises auto and have been wanting to add an auto of his to my collection for a while. Overall, there are quite a few players in the list that I have yet to add an autograph of who have won a Stanley Cup with the Oilers.

It's too bad that they (and other companies) haven't been able to get Kevin Lowe to sign. I do know that Upper Deck (and I believe ITG) have both been trying to get Lowe, but no bites yet. I also would have liked to have seen Esa Tikkanen in the set too (he has been signing with ITG on and off since 06-07).

Oh, and I'm sure many people will be itching to get their hands on another Patrick O'Sullivan auto

Maybe I missed it, but does anyone know if the autos are sticker or hard-signed? I am guessing they will be sticker autos.

Quick edit to my last post since I had previously reviewed the main auto checklist. Apparently there will be a few autos of Tikkanen and Kevin Lowe! Petr Klima also has at least 1 auto'd card. This is now even more exciting

I'm 99% sure these are sticker autos, at least for the "Inks". The monumental patches, championship banners, etc - the auto'd versions.... maybe not? I only guess that, becuase of guys like Lowe, or the couple I'm looking at: Willy Lidstrom & Pat Hughes. If they were signing stickers, you'd think there would be more than the few that they've done.

Yup. They've pulled out a lot of really interesting names, and guys that have not been in many other products recently (along with the handful that have never been in anything). My list of "have never signed" would be four or five times longer if I had said "never signed for Upper Deck".
