He was one of the few wrestlers who translated very well to the 90s from the 80s. I liked both of his characters as they fit in well with the eras they were from and they both lasted just long enough to stay fresh.

Agreed. I guess it helped a lot that he actually was a corrections officer but he took his gimmick and ran with it. Not a 1st ballot HOFer but he's definitely there, in my book at least.
