Pretty easy to sign some manufactured patches. Those could have literally been signed the second he was drafted.

And again, please, please! Give a reason how it would make sense to intentionally make them a redemption. Even if MacKinnon's are for some reason short-printed, guess what? The product is being sold to wholesalers from the beginning! So if MacKinnon rookies become rare in 5 years, UD gains NOTHING! The product has already been shipped out!

Well either UD purposely made them a redemption though I don't think so as why would that make sense or UD just doesn't care enough to ensure the cards are signed in time for release.

Contenders comes out in roughly a week and Panini has already shown live hard signed Mackinnons so thats another example that Mackinnon actively signs, don't know why UD can't seem to get a future watch auto from him even after pushing release back over 2 months.

They were. A lot of his content wasn't returned in time for Dominion so they put it into Anthology instead, including his ARP and a large number of other cards. At the last trader night here in Kelowna, a Brand Logo /3 was pulled out of Anthology. See the various checklists.

Back on topic, Brendan Gallagher is also a redemption in SP Authentic. This isn't a big surprise as I'm still waiting on my SPx auto jersey. But still, disappointing.

The idea that Upper Deck held these cards back on purpose, and wanted to make them a redemption... silly. It does nothing to help this set, it only hurts them. They're now stuck with the additional cost of mailing out redemptions to people.
