Connor-Mania is Officially Underway
McDavid's first licensed rookie cards are to be found as a redemption in the newly-released 15-16 MVP.
And the early results are bananas.
The card, which falls at 1:960 packs, roughly 1:5 cases, is selling for crazy money out of the gates.
One example, which I'm sure the buyer will regret, had a copy of the redemption going for $700US.
There are a bunch of them though that seem to be settling in at around $175-$200 USD.
For an MVP card.
Obviously this won't be sustainable but if a freakin' MVP card is $200 right away, what can we expect for the YG?Habs fan and collector! Main PC's: Carey Price, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and of course...

That is crazy, talk about getting value from a low-end product. Then again, 1 per 5 cases is pretty rare, and even though MVP is low-end, it is the 1st 2015-16 product out. Anyone figure out how many of these exist, roughly? Either way, there will be plenty of YG's to choose from, so I can't see the YG being too much higher.
I wonder if the guy had the wrong pic for this or just messed up with the price, if it is the auto though it's quite a steal. Looks like another auto went for over $800 best offer

The potential cost of his FWA (which will most certainly be a redemption) is what terrifies me to no end.
If I am still in the hobby when that card is produced, I will be waiting quite a while before attempting to acquire it

That's nuts.
For the sake of comparison, anybody remember what the first Crosby rookies were going for when he made his debut?

I remember buying a box S1 back in '05 (fro $100) and Crosby's YG was selling for about $160.

Based on what? No reason to believe that at this point - let's see where he's at with his UD cards early in the year before casting that judgment.

Richard, do you know why some of the redemptions say NHL Draft Pick Trading card and others say NHL Draft Pick Autographed trading card? Are some not autographed? Weird if they arent auto'd, why would they be redemptions.

Licensing - they can't produce McDavid until he steps foot on the ice in a regular season game. They do it regularly for products like MVP and Artifacts, which are released before the season starts, so that there's added content for that release once the season gets going. That way, without having to do an update set, the top rookies will all get cards from each release.

I'm worried about people who are paying big bucks for the pacific division mvp redemption card, I feel like they think they will be getting a mcdavid and I doubt that is the case since he has his own redemption card.

thank you!
So it appears people are paying a lot of money for the non-autos as well.
