Before we start the month I feel it is necessary to give credit to the sources of info (which are all highly recommended)
Nascar Chronicle by Greg Fielden, racing-reference.com, Motorsport.com, Yahoo sports, Getty images, Zimbio, and Google image search for the pictures.

Today in Nascar History March 1st:

March 2nd, 1958: Lee Petty is declared the official winner of the 100 mile race at Concord Speedway 4 days after the checkered flag. Curtis Turner and Speedy Thompson protest and claim that they were the rightful 1-2 finishers in the event. Turner had started from pole and apparently never got passed, but Petty’s scorecard indicated that he had completed 200 laps first.

March 2nd, 2003: Matt Kenseth scores another victory for Jack Roush at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and wins in relatively easy fashion.

March 2nd, 2008: Carl Edwards holds off a charge late from Dale Earnhardt Jr. as Matt Kenseth and Jeff Gordon crash in spectacular fashion behind them, giving Edwards his 2nd straight Cup Series win. After the race it is discovered that the oil tank lid in Edwards’ car had come off in the event, and his team is fined 100 points for the infraction but allowed to keep the victory.

March 6th, 1988: Neil Bonnett wins at Rockingham after starting in the 30th position. It is Bonnett's 2nd straight Cup Series win. The top 4 finishers in the event all are on Hoosier Tires.

March 6th, 2011: Carl Edwards take advantage of Tony Stewart's pit miscue and subsequent alternating strategy to take the lead off of the final pit stop and hold off a charging Stewart for the win at Las Vegas. Stewart leads for most of the event but it is Edwards who takes his 2nd career victory at the Nevada track.

March 6th, 2016: Brad Keselowski wrestles the lead away from Kyle Busch late in the going to win at Las Vegas on a wild weather day in the desert. Drivers battle rain, sandstorms, and huge winds throughout the event. The win is Keselowski's 2nd in 3 years at the Nevada track and it breaks a 33 race dry spell for the driver of the #2.
