    SCF Updates and Rule changes

    Members -

I have made a few changes to SCF over the last few days, some of them are on the subtle side.

    1) Added Additional Prefixes
    - This is a part of the phase of streamlining the forum structure within SCF to be a bit more clean. With this, I have added color to the prefixes to make them standout a bit more; making it a bit easier to see what the Prefixes are.

    2) 2 Methods of Selling (Priced OR Non-Priced) - SCF's PREFERRED method of selling is that you take the time to price your items. However, if you wish to post a sale thread with out posting, you need to use the Prefix [For Sale - Not Priced]. This will allow you to post your items and give potential buyers the knowledge if your items are Priced or not. If your sale thread is Not Priced AND does not have the For Sale - Not Priced Tag, it will be subject to being closed.

    Speaking of Sale threads....

    3) Closing your own sale threads - if you have a thread in Buy/Sell, you now have the ability to mark that thread as Sold, which will automatically close that thread. No need to report this any longer. One the top if your sale thread, you will see the Thread Tools, click on this and you will see the option to Mark the Thread as Sold. This will lock the thread from further posting. This is only currently available on Buy/Sell forums. I will look to add this to the Trading forums at a later point (this is not ready today).

This will ONLY allow you to close your own threads! (Admins and staff can, and will, close threads as deemed appropriate).

    4) Expanded number of post per page - If you have not noticed, we made a change to update the number of posts that you can see on each page of the forums from 40 to 100. With this change, there will be an update to the bumping rule:

VIP Members can bump their threads every 12 hours, regardless of location.
Non-VIP Members can bump their threads every 24 hours, provided the post is NOT on the first page already

While the preference is to have all SCF members combine posts wherever possible; there will be a tweak to rule 4.05 (this is mostly for Trading and Buy/Sell)

VIP Members can have up to 6 threads on the first page of a Forum (any combination of For Trade/For Sale/Trading For/Buying/etc).
Non-VIP Members can have up to 4 threads on the first page

These rule changes will start immediately.

    5. Fantasy Sports - I have received a couple of PM's regarding fantasy leagues and the rule around gambling. Today, they are classified as gambling in the SCF rules. Whether or not fantasy sports is legal is debatable. Technically, under UIGEA, fanatsy sports is not illegal. Several states, including New York do have restrictions or outright bans on fantasy sports (The big 2 mainly).

Here is a decent article on the dilemma --> http://www.huffingtonpost.com/aj-agr..._10524826.html

With this said, I need to do more research (and possibly talking to my lawyer) on this topic; thus I am not ready to make a change because I need to understand the legal risks better.

    Thanks for reading,
    Scott

With the restructuring of the forums are the MMA and Wrestling forum sections going to be changed too with the new updates?

My vision is that they will be, but I'm not sure if they will be kept separate or merged back to other sports.

Just a thought, you may want to send out a PM/message to each member about the "new rule(s)" on the # of threads that can now be on the main page of a forum. Until now, when I just saw this, I didn't know a decision had been reached (and others may not know either). Thanks. Have a good day.
