A Season of Mystery - Leg 1 - Regular Season Pool

Welcome to the first leg in our year-long A Season of Mystery contest! The Regular Season Pool is a long-running feature on SCF, and this year we have tweaked things a little bit to increase the challenge and fun factor! We are also very pleased to announce that we are upgrading our site hosting to use the very popular OfficePools.com

Your invitation to the Regular Season Pool (as it shows on the site: 2016_SCF_Regular) is here: http://www.officepools.com/invite/classic/m/QHK2QTA
The password you will use is SCF2016.

Your team will be comprised of a total of 22 players, including a minimum of 12 forwards, 6 defencemen, and 2 goalies. You will be allowed two spares per team. Your roster must be compliant with the salary cap limit of $73M--the spares do not count against the cap until activated.

    Scoring

    Forwards & Defence:
    Goals: 1
    Assists: 1

    Goalies:
Goals: 2 (because what are the odds?)
    Assists: 1
    Wins: 2
    Losses: -1
    OT/Shootout Losses: -0.5
    Shutouts: 2

    Pool Trades

There will be no trades made within the pool this year. Once your roster is submitted it will be locked after the season starts. In the event of long-term injuries you may contact the pool administrator (RGM81) to discuss player replacement.

    SCF Trades

During the course of the contest period you will be required to make a minimum of one trade on SCF per month. This includes buying and selling only, CC transactions are not eligible. Any SCF Trade Manager transaction is eligible. Please ensure that you adhere to this rule as we really do not want to have to rule out anybody’s team from the standings because of no trade activity.
This is very important! We had to disqualify so many members last year because they did not adhere to the trade rule. Do not lose out on your valuable points because of inactivity in trading.

You must also use unique trades for each contest leg.

    Additional Rules

Ensure that you use your SCF username as your name in the pool. If your name does not match up you will not be counted! After you have registered, please post in this thread that you are in the pool. As a special bonus every entrant this year will receive 250 Card Cash!

    One entry per member
. Any members found to be creating extra teams or using other members’ user names will be deleted and you will be disqualified from the entire contest. Don’t be that that guy.

All SCF Members in good standing, including the SCF Staff, are eligible to participate in this season-long contest.

Members must remain in good standing throughout the contest period. Any negative feedback or major infractions will result in a disqualification from the contest. Again, don’t be that guy.

    Selection of Winner

The member with the most points in the pool at the end of the regular season will be declared the winner. There will also be a prize for this contest leg, to be determined.

Points in our season-long contest will be awarded as well on a sliding scale: every participant will get points! Total scoring for top finishers will be determined based on the number of entrants (plus bonus points for top five finishers), and will be announced within a week of the entry period closing.

Thank you for participating. Good luck to all!
Habs fan and collector! Main PC's: Carey Price, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, Juraj Slafkovsky, and of course...

Can you clarify the spares and how the salary cap hits work on that? Is it a straight swap for the cap hit of the swapped out, or is it an additional you have to have room for?

@sparty07 Salary cap doesn't count for your spares when they're not playing. But once you move them into the lineup, their cap hit applies. Say you have Jaroslav Halak ($4.5M) as one of your reserves. If you want to bring him in for a few games instead of Jake Allen ($2.35M) you have to have at least a $2.2M cushion in your salary cap to make that move. The system itself won't let you submit a non-compliant roster.

    Hope that helps!
