ePack Ultimate Collection Live, UD Announces Quests & Achievement Cards
Hoo-booy.
From the newsletter...
How does e-Pack Quest work?
Through 1/29/2017, each 2015-16 Ultimate Collection Hockey card on e-Pack will have a designated “subject point” value displayed on the front of the card that corresponds to the player(s) on the card. The point value can be found in the red shield icon located in the top right hand corner of the card. At the end of the game the top ranked collectors with the most “subject points” within each player category will receive exclusive trophy avatars and e-Pack Quest Game Points, the latter being used to earn exclusive achievement cards.
Note, you are only credited with “subject points” if the card is in your collection on e-Pack. If you trade away an Ultimate Collection card on e-Pack, the “subject points” are credited to the new owner. Likewise, if you transfer an Ultimate Collection card to COMC, or have one shipped to you, you will lose the “subject points” for those cards. The cards must remain in your collection on e-Pack for you to be credited with the “subject points”.
The finalization of rankings within each player category and the awarding of avatars, Quest Game Points, and achievement cards will take place after the conclusion of the game on 1/29/2017, and follows the parameters below.
Exclusive Avatars
These are awarded at the end of the game, based on the final rankings within each player category.
1st : Platinum Player Avatar
2nd - 5th : Gold Player Avatar
6th – 10th : Silver Player Avatar
11th – 25th : Bronze Player Avatar
e-Pack Quest Game Points
These are awarded at the end of the game, based on the final rankings within each player category.
1st – 5 e-Pack Quest Game Points
2nd – 3 e-Pack Quest Game Points
3rd – 1 e-Pack Quest Game Point
Achievement Cards
These achievement cards are awarded at the end of the game. The achievement cards you receive are based on the number of e-Pack Quest Game Points you are awarded when the game ends (Quest Game Points earned are determined by your final ranking within each player category). Upon being awarded, the card(s) will be placed in your e-Pack account and you will have the ability to have the physical card(s) mailed to you.

Just absolutely not the product that should have hit ePack, and giving away shields as achievements is a load of garbage in my opinion. I'm sure those opening physical packs or buying MTL in group breaks would've loved to know that Price was on ePack. If they are going to do this, should be transparent on what cards are where.

So if I understand the process correctly, the guy who has the Shield above gets 100 "subject points" for Carey Price. He's likely to win that category, so he would earn 5 Quest Game Points. That would entitle him to the following VIP Achievement Cards:
- 1 Quest Game Point – VIP Rookies Tier 1 (3 cards - Sam Bennet, Robby Fabbri, Max Domi)
- 2-3 Quest Game Points - VIP Rookies Tier 2 (2 cards - Matt Murray, Artemi Panarin) + All above awards
- 4-9 Quest Game Points - VIP Rookies Tier 3 (2 cards - Dylan Larkin, Jack Eichel) + All above awards
To get to that level of Shields and Auto Shields, you would (at minimum) have to be in first place for at least 25 players on ePack at the end of the promotion. To reach that level you're either spending a ton on ePack directly (which Upper Deck would really like) or doing a lot of dealing to get certain players into your collection by the deadline (which Upper Deck would like a lot, but not as much as direct buying). The top 5 guys in the Quest right now are all over 80 points, but only the leader overall (with 423 Points...how much has he spent!?!?!) has enough points to qualify for a Shield and an Auto Shield. The guy in second place is at 120, so just a bit short for the time being.
I don't know how many of those Achievements will end up being doled out, but it's going to reflect how much they've spent for sure. The leader has 291 cards from Ultimate, which (assuming he hasn't traded away any) means he has opened probably close to 60 packs. That is an insane amount of Ultimate to open. I don't know anybody who would open that much of this product this year.

I busted a few cases of ePack Ultimate today... hit this one (a couple of McDavid autos as well):
It is available for trade if the price is right. :)

I, personally, would have loved to see this kind of program utilized with a product like OPC, OPCP, or MVP. Ultimate is very expensive compared to the ones I've listed.

Oh for sure.. it would be great with S1. Even SPGU/SPX at a lower price point.
I just wanted to crack some Ultimate as I didn't get any of the live product in this year. I knew it was a dud in terms of resale, but was wondering how the epack cases would be. All in all... I think I pulled 2 auto'd McDavids, the Bennett Shield, Jagr /5, and some other decent ones (Orr auto).. not TOO bad. My 4th case was a stinker though for sure, that's where I stopped.
