    New Member with Kids

    Hello,

My name is Jason and I am from Lansing, Michigan. I collected cards as a kid, stepped away from the hobby in 2008 and am now getting back into it, as I have two little boys that are starting to get into the hobby.

We are Detroit Tigers fans. The boys are excited more about the appearance of each card rather than the player on it...it's fun.

I've always loved cool patches. I am starting to appreciate autographs a little bit more. I look forward to interacting with the members on this forum.

    Thanks,
    Jason

Thank you for the warm welcome! A lot has changed since I left the hobby. I'd heard rumblings that Panini would be getting involved in the market. Well, they certainly did that. The whole box breaking concept was just coming into play. It seems that breaking is a large concept now. The secondary market has changed in a huge way. It used to be really cool to pull a game-used card, even just a single-color swatch.
Now, that appears to be extremely disappointing. Product pricing supports that theory. Now, Topps is coming out with some product that is $27K per box? A lot has changed. My boys and I will continue to enjoy rummaging through dime boxes and looking for sweet deals on eBay. That's what makes the hobby fun to us. Glad to be back.
