2016 Topps High Tek Baseball Hobby Box Hobby box for review

First and foremost, I'd like to thank our sponsors at Topps for providing us with this box.

2016 Topps High Tek keeps the same formulas as last year. Each box yields (1 pack) containg 8 cards. The cards all have a clear acetate design with one autograph card, one #'ed Parrallel, and six base cards. Upon looking at the 8 cards the box yielded no duplicates from a player standpoint but had two cards that had the matching pattern design. The pattern and how rare they are can be very confusing hence I included a link below to help alleviate that problem.

You're looking at a product that delivers one hit per box. That does not bode well for any collector trying to get their initial return on the cost of their box. The autograph checklist includes a lot of past greats, superstars and top rookies to help recoup your investment.

I love the acetate look on the base cards. The on card autographs is another plus in my book versus sticker autographs. What I do not like is how confusing the patterns can be. I think it would be nice to know a rough print run of how rare any of the variations might be. As that can help one figure out a value especially if one trades.

Looking at our pulls of the Turner along with the Clemens might fetch about half our box purchase. So take a look at the checklist to see if this is a product you want to gamble on. There will be a slew of nice boxes which hit one of the nicer auto or rare parallel. So there'sbvalue there but it only will get better as the prices of boxes drop.

A great reference for the pattern rarity and checklist can be found using this link at Beckett:

Nice auto, and a decent serial numbered card.
