Craig Sager, a longtime on-air reporter for Turner Sports, has died after a long battle with cancer; he was 65 years old.

Turner Broadcasting confirmed the news in a statement on Thursday. Sager was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in 2014 and missed covering that year’s NBA playoffs as a result. But he fought his way back to cover the sport of basketball over the past two years, earning the Jimmy V Perserverance Award at this year’s ESPYs as a tribute to his resilience.
