A huge recap coming from the Larry A. Pogofsky Chicago All-Star Challenge, which is a celebrity softball game comprised of former Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs players plus a few other Chicago athletes. This was my first year attending the event, and it went very well. Lots of autographs, and most of the players were signing left and right throughout the day. I focused on former White Sox players, specifically 2005 World Series Champions who were there. I was able to get Jermaine Dye on a 2005 WS ROMLB, although he wouldn't add "2005 WS MVP." Also able to knock off Jon Garland (05 WS ROMLB and ROMLB), Freddy Garcia (05 WS ROMLB, ROMLB, and 2 cards), and Carl Everett (2 05 WS ROMLB, ROMLB). I already got Scott Podsednik and Joe Crede last year on 05 WS ROMLBs, so I just got a card signed by Podsednik and I got a 2008 ASG ROMLB and 8x10 photo signed by Crede. Fergie Jenkins didn't sign much all day until after the game, and I got him on a ROMLB and card. The rest of the players that I got cards done include Mike Cameron 4/4, Michael Huff 2/2, Corey Patterson 2/2, Kyle Farnsworth 5/5, and Bobby Howry 4/4. Great event, 32 autographs in total. Only wish was that I had more cards for some players, I easily could have gotten a bunch more cards signed but still very happy with my results.

Store Appearance - Walmart (Champaign, IL) - Sit Down
Kevin Hardy (Illinois Fighting Illini & NFL) - 15/16 Cards
There are only a couple autograph opportunities while I am away at school, so it is nice to get a couple of autographs every now and then. Former Illinois Fighting Illini player and the #2 overall pick of the 1996 NFL Draft Kevin Hardy came back to Champaign for an appearance at the local Walmart. Hardy went on to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys, and Cincinnati Bengals during his 9-year NFL career. Hardy signed 15/16 cards for me. The only card he wouldn't sign was a rookie card which depicted him in a #54 uniform. Hardy wore #51 throughout his career, and only wore #54 for a few weeks during training camp his rookie year, so he said he doesn't sign his #54 jersey cards because he never played in a game with that number. I thought that story was kinda cool and fascinating. Great person overall and really appreciative of his fans.

Store Appearance - Goodwill (Lake Zurich, IL) - SIT DOWN
Akiem Hicks (Chicago Bears) - 2/2 Mini Helmets, 3/2 8x10 Photos
I'm home for Thanksgiving, and I was able to make a signing with Chicago Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks, who just signed a huge contract extension with the team and is arguably their best defensive player. I was able to get 2 mini helmets signed along with 2 8x10 photos, and he threw in a promotional 8x10 photo that he was handing out as well. I just ordered two dozen mini helmets, so hoping to start adding more Bears players on mini helmets. Hicks was a great guy, making small talk with every fan and taking lots of pictures.

Appearance - Ameristar East Chicago (East Chicago, IN) - SIT DOWN
Marian Hossa (Chicago Blackhawks) - 1/1 Jersey, 1/1 Puck
I got to meet Chicago Blackhawks player Marian Hossa at a casino in East Chicago, IN. Only 1 item per person, but was able to go through the line twice. Got a Reebok Premier jersey signed during the first time around, and a 2015 Stanley Cup Champs puck signed the second time through. Happy to add some nice Hossa graphs to my collection for free, since he was charging $49 at a signing just the week before.

Miller Top Draft Broadcast - Fatty's Pub and Grill (DeKalb, IL) - On the Go
Lance Briggs (Chicago Bears) - 1/1 Mini Helmet
Former Chicago Bears linebacker Lance Briggs is a guest on a Chicago radio show every week, and I was finally able to go to attend a show at Fatty's Pub and Grill in DeKalb, IL. Briggs signs autographs and takes photos during commercial breaks, but he only gets through a handle of fans each commercial. Long story short, I waited through a few commercials and finally was in the next batch of fans that he was going to sign for during the next commercial, except that commercial never came and the radio show ended and Briggs started walking out of the restaurant. Luckily I was able to get him to sign a mini helmet on his way out, so I was able to get the graph after all.

Chicago Blackhawks Practice - MB Ice Arena (Chicago, IL) - On the Go
Jonathan Toews - 1/1 Puck
Alex DeBrincat - 1/1 Puck
The Chicago Blackhawks recently opened a brand new practice center called MB Ice Arena, just two blocks away from the United Center. The new facility is incredible to say the least. After practice, I waited outside as players exited the facility and was able to get rookie Alex DeBrincat to sign a Blackhawks logo puck and captain Jonathan Toews to sign a 2015 Stanley Cup Champions puck.

Chicago Bulls vs. Orlando Magic - United Center (Chicago, IL) - On the Go
Bobby Portis (Chicago Bulls) - 1/1 8x10 Photo, 1/1 Card
Horace Grant (Chicago Bulls) - 1/1 Floorboard
Lauri Markkanen (Chicago Bulls) - 1/1 8x10 Photo
Nikola Mirotic (Chicago Bulls) - 1/1 8x10 Photo
Robin Lopez (Chicago Bulls) 1/1 Card
I went to the Chicago Bulls vs. Orlando Magic game the other day, my first NBA game in two years I think. I usually do the away team when I go to Bulls games, but there wasn't really anyone on Orlando that was warming up that I wanted, so I went to the Bulls side instead. Bobby Portis was the first one off the floor, and signed an 8x10 photo and a card for me. Then Bulls great Horace Grant was in attendance and walking around, and I got him to sign a floor piece from the original Chicago Stadium, where he was a member of the Bulls first 3-peat with Jordan. I actually brought a few game-used floor pieces with me to try to get signed by a few other former players who now work for the Bulls as broadcasters, but saw Grant first and was able to get him to sign a floor piece and add "3x NBA Champs" as an inscription. Next, Bulls star rookie Lauri Markkanen and Nikola Mirotic came by and they each signed an 8x10 photo for me. Robin Lopez was the last one off the floor, who gives an absolutely terrible graph that is just an "R" so I got him on a card.
