I'd argue that anything from the recent Panini Anthology release is far uglier than the card in the original post. Those Titanium cards posted above are also horrible.
I think the past two releases of ITG Used have looked amazing even without the logos, especially the vintage pieces. I'd take them any day over these ridiculous manufactured patches. It's cool to see a multi-color swatch on a card, but what's the point of it if it's from a jersey manufactured simply to create said nice swatches?

Pretty clearly either a Glove/Pad/Blocker piece. The weird thing is that it *could* be from his Rangers playing days late in his career because of the colours. I'll leave it to one of our Canucks experts to know. Best wishes.Last edited by RGM81; 01-31-2017 at 11:57 AM.

Agreed. It looks like leather to me.
Have a scan of the back of the card? I think ITG was usually pretty good as saying "Game Used Pad" or "Game Used Jersey" rather than something about "Memorabilia"

I'm no hockey gear expert, so no idea what team(s) Kirk might have worn Eagle equipment for, but as Rich speculates it certainly could be a glove or pad from his Rangers days.

EAGLE! Yes! I was trying to figure out where the "e" was from. Nicely done!

Spot on with the gear guys :) I knew the patch was from Eagle right away from their trademark "e". Classic look! Plus it pops right off the card which looks incredible. With that pad/glove piece, it makes the card look even nicer IMO.

Great...now I am going to look like I am just purposely picking this card apart... As shown above, Kirk McLean was wearing EAGLE when playing in NY. However, it seems based on photos that I could find, that McLean never wore Eagle back with the Canucks. Its for sure not during the 1994 run when they wore the red, yellow, black/white uniforms as McLean appears to have worn VAUGHN when playing for the Canucks back then.
So this makes this card even uglier to me...lol. I would have assumed, based on the "drawing" and the title of the card, that I was getting a piece of the players uniform/equipment used in that game...or maybe that season. At the very least, at least from when he played for the Canucks. But I DEFINATELY would not think it is a piece from the equipment taken from when he was a different team. (And from the team that beat the Canucks in the finals!!!!)
Anyways...don't think less of me because of this rant. lol

I don't know of a hockey one but I've seen some worse ones in basketball. Let me find them and I'll post them because while the original card posted isn't too good it is nothing compared to these.

That card's pretty bad. Reminds me of the Ice Kings inserts (I swear these look way worse in person!)

I don't know the exact history of Eagle goalie equipment, but I think it was started by a former Vaughn employee in the late 90's. So it would make sense considering McLean wore Eagle with the Rangers around the 2000's, and wore Vaughn strictly before that. And Eagle wasn't a company when "The Save" happened, so while it's a shame that it wasn't a piece of Canucks gear used on the card, I do however like the memorabilia piece included either way.
Not all goalies get a pad/glove piece out there, so that in itself is pretty unique. And card companies don't always have the luxury of having the memorabilia match the picture, especially with such a unique set idea like this one. Having Kirk McLean in the set is good enough for me!Last edited by creasecollector; 01-31-2017 at 10:47 PM.
