Impaired Bidding: The one that got away

Had a shot at a 1/15 card that's been on my list for a while. Entered a bid a 3am last night and was highest bidder. Knowing I would not be around when the auction closed I figured I had better increase may automatic max bid. I input my new max bid amount (3x above my current high bid).

The next morning I check the results and find that I lost the auction and the winning bid was 50% lower than my max bid. After some phone calls and research it appears that, due to my fatigue or general inattention, I failed to "confirm" my max bid increase.

I realize that had my bid gone through I still may have lost the auction, but the uncertainty of not knowing is upsetting. Be it fatigue, adult beverages, or other things... Learn from my mistake: Don't Bid While Impaired!

I always like it when you wait till right near the end to enter a bid and just as you do, Ebay wants to have you resign in to the site.
Also with this scenario, it blows when the clock in the browser starts to lag and even though it shows you have time left to bid, when you do the auction has already ended.

Impaired bidding has resulted in some unfortunate wins in my case. A six pack and an ebay account can be a dangerous combination.

Amen to that!! I hate when the browser starts lagging but in a household with everyone using wi-fi it bound to happen occasionally.

So true. Anytime I jump on eBay on a Sunday night I know someone gonna get paid.
